اپنے آئینۂ تن کی عریانیوں کے تکلّم سے نا آشنا

موجۂ زلفِ آبِ رواں سے لپٹ کر

ہواؤں کی سرگوشیاں سنتے رہنے میں مشغول تھی

ناگہاں

نیلگوں آسمانوں میں اُڑتے ہوئے دیوتا نے

زمیں پر جو دیکھا

تو پرواز ہی بھول بیٹھا

نظر جیسے شل ہو گئی

اُڑنا چاہا، مگر

خواہشِ بے اماں نے بدن میں قیامت مچا دی

مگر وصل کیسے ہو ممکن

کہ وہ دیوتا، آسمانوں کا بیٹا ہوا

جل پری کا تعلق زمیں سے

سو خواہش کی عفریت نے

آسماں اور زمیں کے کہیں درمیاں سرزمینوں کی مخلوق کا روپ دھارا

بہت کھولتی خواہشوں کے تلاطم سے سرشار نیچے اُترنے لگا

اِس قدر دودھیا خوشنما ہنس کو

اپنی جانب لپکتے ہوئے دیکھ کر مسکرائی

مگر اُس کی یہ مسکراہٹ ہنسی بننے سے قبل ہی چیخ میں ڈھل گئی

اُس کا اِنکار بے سود

وحشت، سراسیمگی، اجنبی پھڑپھڑاہٹ میں گم ہو گئی

آہ و زاری کے باوصف

مضبوط پر اس کا سارا بدن ڈھک چکے تھے

اُجلی گردن میں وحشت زدہ چونچ اُتری چلی جا رہی تھی

اُس کے آنسو

سمندر میں شبنم کی مانند حل ہو گئے

سسکیاں

تند موجوں کی آواز میں بے صدا ہو گئیں

ہنس اپنے لہو کی دہکتی ہوئی وحشتیں

نیم بے ہوش خوشبو کے رس سے بجھاتا رہا

اور پھر اپنے پیاسے بدن کی مساموں پہ

بھیگی ہوئی لذّتوں کی تھکن اوڑھ کر اُڑ گیا

گہرے نیلے سمندر کی بیٹی

اپنی مفتوح و نا منتظر کوکھ میں

آسماں اور زمیں کے کہیں درمیاں رہنے والوں کا

بے شجرہ و بے نسب ورثے کا بوجھ تھامے ہوئے

آج تک رو رہی ہے

हवाऔं कि सरगोशियां सुनते रहने में मश्ग़ूल थी

नागहां

नीलगूं आसमानौं में उढते हुए देवता ने

ज़मीं पर जो देखा

तो परवाज़ ही भूल बैठा

नज़र जैसे शल हो गई

उढना चाहा, मगर

ख़्वाहश-ए बे-अमां ने बदन में क़यामत मचा दी

मगर वस्ल कैसे हो मुमकिन

के वो देवता, आसमानौं का बेटा हुआ

जल परी का ता’अलुक़ ज़मीं से

सो ख़्वाहश कि इफ़्रीत ने

आसमां और ज़मीं के कहीं दर्मियां सरज़मीनौं कि मख़्लूक़ का रूप धारा

बहुत खौलती ख़्वाहशौं के तलातुम से सरशार नीचे उतरने लगा

जल परी

इस क़दर दूधिया ख़ुशनुमा हन्स को

अपनी जानिब लपकते हुए देख कर मुस्कुराई

मगर उस की ये मुस्कुराहट हंसी बनने से क़ब्ल हि चीख़ में ढल गई

उस का इन्कार बे-सूद

वहशत, सरासीमगी, अजनबी फढफढाहट में गुम हो गई

आह ओ ज़ारी के बावस्फ़

मज़्बूत पर उस का सारा बदन ढक चुके थे

उजली गरदन में वहशत-ज़दा चोंच उतरी चली जा रही थी

उस के आंसू

समंदर में शबनम कि मानिंद हल हो गये

सिस्कियां

तुंद मौजौं कि आवाज़ में बे-सदा हो गईं

हन्स अपने लहू की दहकती हुई वहशतें

नीम-बेहोश ख़ुशबू के रस से बुझाता रहा

और फिर अपने प्यासे बदन की मसामौं पे

भीगी हुई लज़्ज़तौं कि थकन ओढ़ कर उढ गया

जल परी

गहरे नीले समंदर कि बेटी

अपनी मफ़्तूह और नामुंतज़र कोख में

आस्मां और ज़मीं के कहीं दर्मियां रहने वोलौं का

बे-शज्रा ओ बे-नसब विर्से का बोझ थामे हुए

In versions of Greek mythology, Leda is the wife of Tyndareus and is extremely beautiful. In parveen shakir’s rendering she is portrayed as a nymph lying in the shallow waters of the shore next to the deep sea. She is unaware of the message that her nakedness broadcasts and is absorbed in listening to the wispering wind. The imagery is that of a completely innocent scene, with no indication of what is to come.
