سُنا سُنا مرے ہمدم کوئی جواں سی غزل
مثالِ راوی و گنگا رواں رواں سی غزل

جو دل کو چھو نہ سکے گنگنا نہ پاؤں میں
غزل نہ ایسی سنا جس کو بھول جاؤں میں
رہے جو یاد ہمیشہ وہ جاوداں سی غزل

جدید نسل نے خوبی نہ کوئی پیدا کی
یہ آج کل کی غزل تو ندی ہے برکھا کی
سنا سکے تو سنا بحرِ بے کراں سی غزل

کسی کے ہونٹ کی سرخی کا رنگ ہو جس میں
کسی کے پیار کی پاگل ترنگ ہو جس میں
جو دل میں پھول کھلا دے وہ گلستاں سی غزل

کسی کی زلف کی خوشبو ہو جس میں سوئی ہوئی
کسی کی آنکھ کی مستی ہو جس میں کھوئی ہوئی

जो दिल को छू न सके गुनगुना ना पाऊं मैं
ग़ज़ल न ऐसी सुना जिसको भूल जाऊं मैं
रहे जो याद हमेशा वो जावेदां सी ग़ज़ल

जदीद नस्ल ने ख़ूबी न कोई पैदा की
ये आज कल की ग़ज़ल तो नदी है बरखा की
सुना सके तो सुना बहर-ए बेकरां सी ग़ज़ल

किसी के होंठ की सुर्खी का रंग हो जिस में
किसी के प्यार की पागल तरंग हो जिस में
जो दिल में फूल खिला दे वो गुल्सितां सी ग़ज़ल

किसी की जुल्फ की ख़ुश्बू हो जिस में सोई हुई
किसी की आंख की मस्ती हो जिस में खोई हुई
बिखेर दे जो सितारे वो कहकशां सी ग़ज़ल

हो बद-नसीब ग़रीबों की दास्तां जिस में
किसी यतीम की आहौं का हो धुआं जिस में

Not one that does not touch the heart that cannot be sung
Not a Ghazal that is easily forgotten
That which is remembered forever, such an immortal Ghazal

ye aaj kal ki Ghazal to nadi hai barkha5 ki

The new generation has not produced any excellence
