رنگین شبنم ہوتی جاتی ہے ۔ مہیش چندر نقشؔ

محبّت جس قدر وابستۂ غم ہوتی جاتی ہے
طبیعت آشنائے دردِ عالم ہوتی جاتی ہے

ستارہ بار میری آنکھ پُر نم ہوتی جاتی ہے
شبِ ہجراں کی گویا روشنی کم ہوتی جاتی ہے
۳
چمن والو ذرا سوچو چمن کا حال کیا ہوگا
نگاہِ باغباں پھولوں سے برہم ہوتی جاتی ہے

نہ جانے کیا دکھائے گی ابھی یہ گردشِ دوراں
چمن میں ہر کلی تصویرِ ماتم ہوتی جاتی ہے

نقوشِ عہدِ رفتہ جب اُبھرتے ہیں خیالوں میں
ترے غم کی کہانی اور مبہم ہوتی جاتی ہے

تری اِن مست آنکھوں کو زمانہ کچھ نہیں کہتا
ہماری میکشی رسوائے عالم ہوتی جاتی ہے

شبِ مہتاب ہے اے نقشؔ لیکن صحنِ گلشن میں
گلوں کے خون سے رنگین شبنم ہوتی جاتی ہے

चमन वालो ज़रा सोचो चमन का हाल क्या होगा
निगाह-ए बाग़बां फूलौं से बरहम होती जाती है

न जाने क्या दिखाएगी अभी ये गरदिश-ए दौरां
चमन में हर कली तस्वीर-ए मातम होती जाती है

नुक़ूश-ए अहद-ए रफ़्ता जब उभरते हैं ख़यालौं में
तेरे ग़म की कहानी और मुब्हम होती जाती है

तेरी इन मस्त आंखौं को ज़माना कुछ नहीं कहता
हमारी मय-कशी रुस्वा-ए आलम होती जाती है

शब-ए महताब है अए नक़्श लैकिन सहन-ए गुलशन में
गुलौं के ख़ून से रंगीन शबनम होती जाती है

He worked as a sub-inspector in the dehli transport corporation. There are at least four collections of Ghazal and qitaat to his credit. But there are no bio sketches in any of his publications, however there is a reference to an interview on a dehli TV station in which he was asked when he got time to compose. After a moment of thought he replied, I do it constantly – on or off the job. There is no indication of how he became interested in urdu. As pain gets more associated with love, so does my disposition become more familiar with the pain of the world. This could mean (a) the whole world feels the same pain and I am becoming familiar with this awareness (b) the poet feels that the pain of the whole world has descended upon him.

sitaara-baar1 meri aaNkh pur-nam2 hoti jaati hai
shab3-e hijraaN4 ki goya5 raushni6 kam hoti jaati hai 1.shedding stars 2.moist, teary 3.night of 4.spearation 5.as if 6.brightness
The poet/lover’s moist eyes are shedding tears profusely. It is as if they are shedding stars. But the interesting juxtaposition is the stars in the night sky get fewer. This reduces the brightness of the night of separation. It gets darker as he weeps more.

chaman vaalo zara socho chaman ka haal1 kya hoga
nigaah2-e baaGhbaaN3 phooloN se barham4 hoti jaati hai 1.condition 2.eyes 3.gardener 4.wandering, astray
O people, just think, what the condition of the garden will be. The eyes of the gardener wander away from the flowers. This could be a political statement … the eyes of the leadership are not on the best interests of the people of the homeland.

na jaane kya dikhaaegi abhi ye gardish-e-dauraaN1
chaman meN har kali tasviir-e maatam2 hoti jaati hai 1.vicissitudes of the times, trials and tribulations of the day 2.mourning
We don’t know what else the trials and tribulations of the times will bring forth. Every unblossomed bud in the garden is a picture of mourning. This could also be a political statement about the unhappiness of the people.

tere Gham ki kahaani aur mub’ham5 hoti jaati hai 1.marks, sketches 2.days gone by 3.emerge 4.thoughts, imagination 5.vague, ambiguous
When the sketches of days gone by emerge in my thoughts, then the story of the pain of love for you becomes ever more ambiguous. Could this be addressed to the beloved … when old thoughts emerge and he can see how insincere she has been then his own resolve becomes shaky.

hamaari maikashi1 rusvaa2-e aalam3 hoti jaati hai 1.wine drinking 2.embarrassment 3.world
Nobody blames your intoxicating eyes of anything, but my wine drinking has become a source of embarrassment in this world.

guloN6 ke Khoon se raNgiin shabnam7 hoti jaati hai 1.night of 2.full moon 3.pen-name of the poet 4.yard, area 5.garden 6.roses 7.dew
The night of the full moon – shab-e mahtaab – is supposed to be a night of good cheer. But O naqsh, not everything is well in the area of the garden. Roses are bleeding and dew drops are becoming red with the colour of blood. This could also be a political statement implying that people are being bled to create a show of colour.
