خدا  کے  گھر  سے  ہم  نکلے  ۔  بکرم  سین  جین  جوہرؔ

بظاہر  زندگی  کا  بوجھ  ہلکا  کر  کے  ہم  نکلے

گناہوں  کا  پلندہ  باندھ  کر  سوئے  عدم  نکلے

سیاسی  دوڑ  کے  میدان  میں  تیغ  و  علم  نکلے

وفا  کی  داد  دینے  والوں  کے  ہی  سر  قلم  نکلے

۳

نہ  جانے  کن  گناہوں  کی  سزا  ہے  زندگی  میری

ہزاروں  آفتیں  ایسی  کہ  ہر  آفت  پہ  دم  نکلے

وفا  کے  راستے  کتنے  کٹھن  ہیں  ہم  نے  اب  سمجھا

کہ  جن  کو  پوجتے  تھے  ہم  وہ  پتھر  کے  صنم  نکلے

خبردار  اے  جہاں  والو  قیامت  آنے  والی  ہے

کہاں  جائے  گی  دنیا  گر  خدا  کے  گھر  سے  ہم  نکلے

نہ  مذہب  کی  رواداری  نہ  ڈر  قانونِ  قدرت  کا

یہاں  سب  آدمی  تو  تھے  مگر  اِنسان  کم  نکلے

کسی  کی  لاڈلی  بیٹی  کو  شوہر  نے  جلا  ڈالا

وفا  کے  پاسباں  ہی  بانی  ظلم  و  ستم  نکلے

۸

نہ  جانے  کیوں  لکھا  تھا  میری  قسمت  میں  بدھاتا  نے

کہ  وہ  آئیں  عیادت  کو  میری  آنکھوں  سے  دم  نکلے

عذابِ  زندگانی  سے  مفر  ممکن  نہیں  جوہرؔ

نہ  جب  تک  خواہشوں  کا  انت  ہو  یا  تن  سے  دم  نکلے

ख़ुदा के घर से हम निकले – बिक्र्म सेन जैन जौहर

बज़ाहिर ज़िंदगी का बोझ हल्का कर के हम निकले
गुनाहौं का पुलिंदा बांध कर सू-ए अदम निकले

सियासी दौढ के मैदान में तेग़ ओ अलम निकले
वफ़ा की दाद देने वालों के ही सर क़लम निकले

न जाने किन गुनाहों की सज़ा है ज़िंदगी मेरी
हज़ारों आफ़तें ऐसी के हर आफ़त पे दम निकले

वफ़ा के रास्ते कितने कठिन हैं हमने अब समझा
के जिन को पूजते थे हम वो पत्थर के सनम निकले

ख़बरदार अए जहां वालो क़यामत आने वाली है

कहां जाएगी दुनिया गर ख़ुदा के घर से हम निकले


न मज़हब की रवादारी न डर क़ानून-ए क़ुद्रत का
यहाँ सब आदमी तो थे मगर इंसान कम निकले

किसी की लाडली बेटी को शौहर ने जला डाला
वफ़ा के पासबां ही बानी-ए ज़ुल्म-ओ-सितम निकले

न जाने क्यूं लिखा था मेरी क़िस्मत में बिधाता ने
के वो आएं अयादत को मेरी आँखौं से दम निकले

अज़ाब-ए ज़िंदगानी से मफ़र मुमकिन नहीं जौहर
न जब तक ख़्वाहिशौं का अंत हो या तन से दम निकले

The family had land and money lending business. Schooling at home, jain school and BA from meeraTh college (1947). Even from school, as a 14-year-old he got his nazm accepted in the magazine ‘tej’. With the encouragement of his teachers at school he became a shaagird of seemab akbarabadi. Six collections of his work published. This Ghazal is linked to Ghalib naqsh-e qadam.

It might appear that as we depart we have lightened the load of lives, but in reality we carry a bundle of sins with us as we go to the next world.

vafaa5 ki daad6 dene vaaloN ke hi sar qalam7 nikle

They must have been a period of intense political activity. This she’r probably alludes to communal violence. During these politically troubled times, swords were drawn and banners unfurled. Even those who came out to praise loyalty had their heads chopped off.

I now understand how difficult the path of love is for the one I worshipped turned out to hard-hearted.

Khabardaar1 aye jahaaN2 vaalo qayaamat3 aan’e vaali hai
kahaaN jaa’egi duniya gar Khuda ke ghar se ham nikle   
1.be warned, be cautious 2.world 3.doomsday, day of reckoning
Be warned O people of the world, there is a day of reckoning. Where can we go, if we abandon the house of god i.e., if we sin, then we will surely be called to justice. The day of reckoning is inevitable.

yahaaN sab aadmi6 to th’e magar insaan7 kam nikle

There is distinction drawn between being merely biologically human vs being spiritually and ethically human. Neither toleration of faith nor fear of the laws of nature. There were many people around but very few humans. Said Ghalib …

aadmii ko bhii muyassar nahiiN insaaN honaa

kisi ki laaDli1 beti ko shauhar2 ne jalaa Daalaa
vafaa3 ke paasbaaN4 hi baani5-e zulm-o-sitam6 nikle   
1.beloved 2.husband 3.fidelity, truth 4.protector, guardian 5.basis, reason 6.cruelty and oppression
The husband set fire to someone’s beloved daughter (this is a reference to bride burning and other forms of domestic violence). The guardians of fidelity turned out to be the reason of cruelty and oppression.

na jaane kyuN likha tha meri qismat meN bidhaata1 ne
keh voh aaye ayaadat2 ko meri aaNkhoN se dam3 nikle

Who knows why god wrote in my fate that she come to visit me before my last breath. It is poetic convention that the beloved visits the dying poet/lover. But here the dying poet/lover is fretting because it is written in his fate that the condition for his death is that the beloved visit him and she does not, or is late.

na jab tak KhwaahishoN5 ka ‘ant6 ho yaa tan7 se dam8 nikle

O jauhar, it is not possible to escape the retribution of the actions of life. Either your desires have to be fulfilled or life has to leave your body before you can be relieved. Said Ghalib …
