غیر کا سجدا نہ چاہئے ۔ افتخار حسین مضطرؔ خیرآبادی

دل دادگان حسن سے پردا نہ چاہئے
دل لے کے چھپ گئے تمہیں ایسا نہ چاہئے
۲
دل کام کا نہیں تو نہ لو جان نذر ہے
اتنی ذرا سی بات پہ جھگڑا نہ چاہئے
۳
زاہد تو بخشے جائیں گنہ گار منہ تکیں
اے رحمت خدا تجھے ایسا نہ چاہئے
۴
اے دل سدا اسی کی طرف سر جھکا رہے
کعبہ وہی ہے غیر کا سجدا نہ چاہئے
۵
کعبہ سمجھ کے دیر میں مضطرؔ بسر کرو
وہ ہر جگہ ہے اب کہیں جانا نہ چاہئے
ग़ैर का सज्दा न चाहिये – इफ़्तेख़ार हुसैन मुज़्तर ख़ैराबादी

दिल-दादगान-ए हुस्न से पर्दा न चाहिये
दिल ले के छुप गए तुम्हें ऐसा न चाहिये

दिल काम का नहीं तो न लो जान नज़्र है
इतनी ज़रा सी बात पे झगढा न चाहिये

ज़ाहेद तो बख़्शे जाएँ गुनहगार मुँह तकें
अए रहमत-ए ख़ुदा तुझे ऐसा न चाहिये
४
अए दिल सदा उसी की तरफ़ सर झुका रहे
का’बा वही है ग़ैर का सज्दा न चाहिये
५
का’बा समझ के दैर में मुज़्तर बसर करो
वो हर जगह है अब कहीं जाना न चाहिये

dil le ke chhup ga’e tumheN aisaa na chaahiye 1.admirers, devotees 2.beauty, beloved 3.veil, concealment 4.disappeared, hid
O beloved you should not hide from your admirers/devotees; after stealing hearts, you shouldn’t disappear like this. The poet critiques the beloved’s elusive nature. If they have captivated admirers, they should openly embrace and acknowledge them rather than remain distant.

dil kaam1 kaa nahiN to na lo jaan nazr2 hai
itni zaraa3 si baat pe jhagRaa4 na chaahiye 1.useful 2.offering 3.little thing 4.quarrel
If the heart is of no use, don’t take it, I offer my life as proof of my devotion. Such a small matter shouldn’t lead to quarrels.

aye rahmat5-e Khuda tujhe aisaa6 na chaahiye 1.pious, observant 2.forgiven, absolved 3.sinners 4.look expectantly 5.mercy 6.like this
The pious are forgiven while sinners wait/look expectantly, hoping. O mercy of god, this isn’t how it should be.

aye dil sadaa1 usii ki taraf2 sar jhukaa rahe
k’aaba3 vahi hai Ghair4 kaa sajda5 na chaahiye 1.always 2.towards, in the direction of 3.sanctuary 4.other 5.prostration
O heart, always bow your head only towards; that is where the sanctuary is; bowing to others is not right. The key word is ‘usii’. The poet has left if undefined, for us to fill in whatever we fancy. Is it the beloved, is it whatever you imagine in front of you, or is it the k’aaba itself. You can choose.

voh har jagah hai ab kahiiN jaanaa na chaahiye 1.sanctuary 2.thinking of it as, understanding it to be 3.temple 4.pen-name 5.live, reside
Think of the temple as the k’aaba/sanctuary, O muztar and live within; god is everywhere; now there’s no need to go anywhere else.
