خمسہ  بر  غزلِ  غالبؔ

آئے  دن  غم  کی  ابتدا  کیا  ہے

اس  مصیبت  کی  انتہا  کیا  ہے

ہر  گھڑی  گریہ  و  بکا  کیا  ہے

دلِ  ناداں  تجھے  ہوا  کیا  ہے

آخر  اس  درد  کی  دوا  کیا  ہے

حسن  ہے  یا  ہے  عالمِ  اسرار

ایک  اقرار  اور  سو  انکار

کون  کھولے  یہ  عقدۂ  دشوار

ہم  ہیں  مشتاق  اور  وہ  بے  زار

یا  الہی  یہ  ماجرا  کیا  ہے

ہم  بھی  اُلفت  کی  شان  رکھتے  ہیں

ہم  بھی  دنیا  میں  آن  رکھتے  ہیں

ہم  بھی  دل  رکھتے  جان  رکھتے  ہیں

ہم  بھی  منھ  میں  زبان  رکھتے  ہیں

کاش  پوچھو  کہ  مدعا  کیا  ہے

عہد  کی  پھر  وہ  کر  گئے  تجدید

دلِ  نا  فہم  نے  بھی  کی  تائید

فاقہ  مستوں  کی  دیکھئے  یہ  عید

ہم  کو  اُن  سے  وفا  کی  ہے  اُمید

جو  نہیں  جانتے  وفا  کیا  ہے

دل  پہ  جبر  اختیار  کرتا  ہوں

شکرِ  پروردگار  کرتا  ہوں

عشق  پر  اعتبار  کرتا  ہوں

جان  تم  پر  نثار  کرتا  ہوں

میں  نہیں  جانتا  دعا  کیا  ہے

نہ  سہی  کوئی  مہ  جبیں  غالب

نہ  سہی  کوئی  نازنیں  غالب

نہ  سہی  حسنِ  دل  نشیں  غالب

ہم  نے  مانا  کہ  کچھ  نہیں  غالبؔ

مفت  ہاتھ  آئے  تو  برا  کیا  ہے

इस मुसीबत का इन्तेहा क्या है – पंडित लभुराम जोश मलसियानी

ख़म्सा बर ग़ज़्ल-ए ग़ालिब

आए दिन ग़म की इब्तेदा क्या है

इस मुसीबत की इन्तेहा क्या है

हर घढी गिर्या ओ बुका क्या है

दिल-ए नादां तुझे हुआ क्या है

आख़िर इस दर्द की दवा क्या है

हुस्न है या है आलम-ए अस्रार

एक एक़्रार और सौ इन्कार

कौन खोले ये उक़्दा-ए दुश्वार

हम हैं मुश्ताक़ और वो बेज़ार

या इलाही ये माजरा क्या है

हम भी उल्फ़त कि शान रखते हैं

हम भी दुनिया में आन रखते हैं

हम भी दिल रखते जान रखते हैं

हम भी मुंह में ज़बान रखते हैं

काश पूछो के मुद्दो’आ क्या है

अहद की फिर वो कर गए तज्दीद

दिल-ए ना-फ़हम ने भी की ता’ईद

फ़ाक़ा-मस्तौं कि देखिये ये ईद

हम को उन से वफ़ा कि है उम्मीद

जो नहीं जानते वफ़ा क्या है

दिल पे जब्र एख़्तियार करता हुं

शुक्र-ए परवरदिगार करता हुं

इश्क़ पर एतेबार करता हुं

जान तुम पर निसार करता हुं

मैं नही जानता दुआ क्या है

न सही कोई मह-जबीं ग़ालिब

न सही कोई नाज़नीं ग़ालिब

न सही हुस्न-ए दिल नशीं ग़ालिब

हम ने माना के कुछ नहीं ग़ालिब

मुफ़्त हाथ आए तो बुरा क्या है

He was orphaned at 14, without any material inheritance and grew up very poor, in an atmosphere devoid of any poetic tradition. Migrated to India a little before partition/independence. He has written with great feeling about communal harmony and about the loss of his homeland – pakistan. daaGh dehlavi was his ustaad for a brief duration (1902-1905). His son, baalmukund arsh malsiani was also a well recognized poet. Honoured with padma-shrii in 1971. This is a part of the series on Ghalib naqsh-e qadam and linked to Ghalib’s ‘dil-e naadaaN tujhe hua kya hai’.

dil-e naadaaN7 tujhe hua kya hai
aaKhir is dard ki dava kya hai

Everyday, a beginning of a new sorrow. Where is this problem going to end. Every moment mourning and wailing, O poor heart, what is happening to you. What is the cure for your pain.

ham haiN mushtaaq8 aur vo bezaar9
ya ilaahi10 ye maajra11 kya hai

Is this beauty or is it a mysterious world i.e., the workings of the beloved’s mood are difficult to understand. She agrees once and then rejects a hundred times. Who can untie this difficult knot. I am eager and she is not interested. O god, how long can this condition go on.

I too, display the glory of love. I too, have dignity in this world. I too, have a heart and a life. I too, have a tongue in my mouth. I wish you would ask me what my goal is, what I desire.

dil-e naa-fahm3 ne bhi kii taa’iid4
faaqa-mastoN4 ki dekhiye ye eid
ham ko un se vafa5 ki hai ummiid6
jo nahiN jaante vafa kya hai

Once again, the beloved has promised to come. The simpleton heart affirms and believes. Look at the madmen celebrating and happy in deprivation. We have hopes and expectations of fidelity from one who does not know what fidelity is.

ishq par e’tebaar5 karta huN
jaan tum par nisaar6 karta huN
maiN nahiN jaanta dua kya hai

I keep my heart under control and thank god. I trust the sincerity of my love. Others may offer mere verbal supplications, but I don’t believe in such prayers. I offer my life in devotion.

na sahi husn3-e dil-nashiiN4 Ghalib
ham ne maana keh kuchh nahiN Ghalib
muft5 haath aaye to bura kya hai    
1.forehead glowing like the moon 2.beautiful like a damsel 3.beauty 4.winning hearts 5.effortlessly
Maybe Ghalib does not have a glowing brow. Maybe he does not have much beauty. Maybe be his looks do not win hearts. I agree that Ghalib is nothing but if you can get him for free, how can that be so bad.
