اردو – منظر   بھوپالی

 

زبانِ  ہند  ہے  اُردو  تو  ماتھے  کی شکن  کیوں  ہے

وطن میں بے وطن کیوں ہے

 

میری مظلوم  اُردو   تیری سانسوں میں گھٹن کیوں ہے

تیرا  لہجہ مہکتا ہے تو لفظوں میں تھکن  کیوں  ہے

اگر تو  پھول ہے  تو  پھول میں اتنی  چبھن  کیوں  ہے

وطن میں بے وطن کیوں ہے

 

یہ  نانک  کی  یہ خسرو  کی دیاشنکر  کی  بولی  ہے

یہ  دیوالی  یہ  بیساکھی  یہ عید الفطر   ہولی   ہے

مگر یہ دل کی دھڑکن آ جکل دل کی جلن کیوں  ہے

وطن میں بے وطن کیوں ہے

 

یہ نازوں  کی  پلی تھی میر کے غالب کے آ  نگن میں

جو  سورج بن کے  چمکی تھی کبھی محلوں کے  دامن  میں

وہ  شاہزادی  زبانوں  کی  یہاں  بے  انجمن کیوں  ہے

وطن میں بے وطن کیوں ہے

 

محبت کا  سبھی   اعلان کر جاتے  ہیں محفل میں

کہ  اِس کے  واسطے   جذبہ  ہے ہمدردی کا  ہر  دِل میں

مگر حق مانگنے کے وقت  یہ  بیگانا پن  کیوں ہے

وطن میں بے وطن کیوں ہے

 

یہ  دوشیزہ  جو  بازاروں سے  اِٹھلاتی  گزرتی تھی

لبوں  کی نازکی جس کی گلابوں سی  بکھرتی  تھی

جو تحز یبوں کے سر کی اُوڑھنی تھی اب کفن کیوں ہے

وطن میں بے وطن کیوں ہے

 

محبت کا اگر دعوہ  ہے تو اِس کو بچاو تم

جو وعدہ کل کیا تھا آ ج وہ وعدہ نبھاو تم

اگر تم رام ہو تو پھر یہ راون کا چلن کیوں ہے

وطن میں بے وطن کیوں ہے

ज़बान ए हिंद है उर्दू तो माथे की शिकन क्यूँ है

वतन में बे-वतन क्यूँ है

 

मेरी मज़लूम उर्दू तेरी साँसों में घुटन क्यूँ है

तेरा लहजा महकता है तो लफ़्ज़ों में थकन क्यूँ है

अगर तू फूल है तो फूल में इतनी चुभन क्यूँ है

वतन में बे-वतन क्यूँ है

 

ये नानक की ये ख़ुसरो की दया शंकर की बोली है

ये दीवाली ये बैसाखी ये ईद-उल-फ़ित्र होली है

मगर ये दिल की धड़कन आज कल दिल की जलन क्यूँ है

वतन में बे-वतन क्यूँ है

 

ये नाज़ों से पली थी मीर के ग़ालिब के आँगन में

जो सूरज बन के चमकी थी कभी महलों के दामन में

वो शाहज़ादी ज़बानों की यहाँ बे-अंजुमन क्यूँ है

वतन में बे-वतन क्यूँ है

 

मुहब्बत का सभी एलान कर जाते हैं महफ़िल में

के इस के वास्ते जज़्बा है हमदर्दी का हर दिल में

मगर हक़ मांगने के वक़्त ये बेगाना-पन क्यूँ है

वतन में बे-वतन क्यूँ है

 

ये दोशीज़ा जो बाज़ारों से इठलाती गुज़रती थी

लबों की नाज़ुकी जिस की गुलाबों सी बिखरती थी

जो तहज़ीबों के सर की ओढ़नी थी अब कफ़न क्यूँ है

वतन में बे-वतन क्यूँ है

 

मुहब्बत का अगर दावा है तो इस को बचाओ तुम

जो वादा कल किया था आज वो वादा निभाओ तुम

अगर तुम राम हो तो फिर ये रावण का चलन क्यूँ है

वतन में बे-वतन क्यूँ है

My poor Urdu, why is your breathing so laboured. When there is such fragrance in your accent, why do your words sound so weak. If you are such a flower, why is there a thorny prick. Why are you homeless in your homeland.

It is the language of Nanak, Khusro and Daya Shankar. It is Divali, it is Baisaakhi, it is Eid and Holi (representing the syncretic culture of India). Why then is the throbbing of the heart turned into a jealous rage. Why is she homeless in her homeland.

Everyone declares their love in public. Every heart is full of sympathy for her. But at the time of demanding rights, why this aloofness. Why is she homeless in her homeland.

The young damsel who used to dance step through the bazar, the tenderness of whose words spread like the fragrance of rose, who was the pride of culture is now a burial shroud, why is she homeless in her homeland.

jo vaadaa2 kal kiya tha aaj vo vaadaa nibhaao3 tum
