اندیشۂ طوفاں کیا ہوگا ۔ شاہد صدیقی

 

مایوسی میں دردِ اسیری، سلسلہ جنباں کیا ہوگا

آزادی کی آس نہیں ہے، اب غمِ زنداں کیا ہوگا

 

وحشت کی آزاد نگاہیں رازِ خزاں بھی جان گئیں

عقل ابھی اِس فکر میں تھی، انجامِ بہاراں کیا ہوگا

 

حوصلۂ آزادی کیسا ہستی کی زنجیروں سے

جینے کے اسباب بہت ہیں موت کا ساماں کیا ہوگا

 

ہر پردہ اِک جلوۂ نو ہے، ہر جلوہ اِک فیضِ نظر

حسن اگر پردے بھی اُٹھا دے عشق پہ احساں کیا ہوگا

 

طوفانوں سے ڈرنے والے ساحل کی اُمید میں ہیں

کفر ہے جب تک شاملِ ایماں، حاصلِ ایماں کیا ہوگا

 

جو آندھی کی زد میں آیا، وہ گُلشن تاراج ہوا

دیوانے یہ سوچ رہے ہیں حشرِ بیاباں کیا ہوگا

 

ساحِل والے دوُر کھڑے ہیں، اُن پہ کوئی الزام نہیں

کشتی جزوِ طوفاں ہے، اندازۂ طوفاں کیا ہوگا

 

حُسن کی ساری تابش تھی، انوارِ محبت کے دم تک

پروانے محفل میں نہیں اب، جشنِ چراغاں کیا ہوگا

 

کلیاں جتنا چاہیں ہںس لیں، آج اُنہیں آزادی ہے

کل کی نسبت کون کہے، آئینِ گُلستاں کیا ہوگا

 

شاہد یہ موجوں کا تلاطم میرے لئے اِک راحت ہے

غرقابی کی حسرت ہے، اندیشۂ طوفاں کیا ہوگا

अंदेशा-ए-तूफ़ां क्या होगा    शाहिद सिद्दीक़ी

 

मायूसी में दर्द-ए-असीरी सिलसिला-जुंबां क्या होगा
आज़ादी की आस नहीं है अब ग़म-ए- ज़िंदां क्या होगा

 

वहशत की आज़ाद निगाहें राज़-ए- ख़िज़ाँ भी जान गयीं
अक़्ल अभी इस फ़िक्र में थी अंजाम-ए-बहाराँ क्या होगा

 

हौसला-ए-आज़ादी कैसा हस्ती की जंजीरों से
जीने की असबाब बहुत हैं मौत का सामाँ क्या होगा

 

हर पर्दा एक जलवा-ए-नौ है हर जलवा एक फैज़-ए-नज़र
हुस्न अगर परदे भी उठा दे इश्क़ पे एहसां क्या होगा

 

तूफ़ानों से डरने वाले साहिल की उम्मीद में हैं
कुफ़्र है जब तक शामिल-ए-ईमाँ हासिल-ए-ईमाँ क्या होगा

 

जो आंधी की ज़द में आया वो गुलशन ताराज हुआ
दीवाने ये सोच रहे हैं हश्र-ए-बियाबां क्या होगा

 

साहिल वाले  दूर खड़े हैं इन पे कोई इल्ज़ाम नहीं
किश्ती जुज़्व-ए-तूफ़ाँ है अंदाज़ा-ए-तूफ़ाँ क्या होगा

 

हुस्न की सारी ताबिश थी अनवार-ए-मुहब्बत के दम तक
परवाने महफ़िल में नहीं अब जशन-ए-चराग़ां क्या होगा

 

कलियाँ जितना चाहे हँस लें आज इन्हें आज़ादी है
कल की निस्बत कौन कहे आईन-ए-गुलिस्ताँ क्या होगा

 

शाहिद ये मौजों का तलातुम मेरे लिये इक राहत है
ग़रक़ाबी की हसरत है अंदेशा-ए-तूफ़ाँ क्या होगा

The poet/revolutionary admonishes his audience/comrades. You are burdened with hopelessness on top of the pain of colonialism. How can we make progress under such conditions. When you don’t yearn for freedom, how can you feel the pain of prison.

vahshat1 ki aazad2 nigaaheN, raaz3-e KhizaaN4 bhi jaan gaiiN
aql abhi is fikr meN thi, anjaam5-e bahaaraaN kya hoga
1.mad passion 2.free, uninhibited 3.secret (reason of) 4.dry/unproductive season, famine, deprivation 5.result, fate
The mad/passionate revolutionary instinctively understands the hidden reason behind deprivation while wisdom/knowledge (experts) are busy analyzing the future of sping (plenty, well being).

hausla1-e aazadi kaisa, hasti2 ki zanjeerauN3 se
jeene ke asbaab4 bahut haiN, maut ka saamaaN kya hoga
1.courage 2.existence, survival 3.chains/demands 4.means
How can you have the courage to demand/achieve freedom when you feel chained by the demads of survival. There are many means of living available (don’t worry about that). Think of how you might have the courage to face Death (work for revolution).

har parda ek jalva-e nau1 hai, har jalva2 ek faiz3-e nazar
husn agar parde bhi uTha de, ishq pe ehsaaN4 kya hoga
1.new display of beauty 2.face, display 3.benevolence, comfort 4.obligation
“husn” is beauty/beloved/socialist order. “ishq” is lover/revolutionary. Everytime the beloved hides behind a veil, the veil itself becomes a new display of her beauty which gives comfort to the lovers i.e. everytime there is an obstacle in the way to the goal/socialist order, the obstacle becomes an invigorating/enjoyable challenge. Thus even if the beloved removes the veil, how can this be an “ehsaan – obligation” on the lovers. They enjoy the struggle.

kufr2 hai jab tak shaamil3-e eemaaN4, haasil5-e eemaaN kya hoga
1.shore 2.unfaith, evil 3.mixed with, includes 4.faith, virtue 5.benefit
Comrades who are afraid of storms/struggles hope/wish to get to the shore (end of struggle). The poet/revolutionary thinks that struggle itself is virtue and the hope/wish for the end of struggle is “kufr”-evil. As long as this kufr is mixed with your faith (in the revolutionary struggle), how can there be any benefit of such faith.

jo aandhi ki zad1 meN aaya, vo gulshan2 taaraaj3 hua
deevaane ye soch rahe haiN, hashr4-e biyabaaN5 kya hoga
1.range, target 2.garden 3.devastated 4.fate 5.wilderness
Every garden that came in the path/range of the storm was devastated and changed into a wilderness. Now the fools are wondering what will become of the wilderness! The “storm” is capitalism which destroyed all communities that came under its influence. Now the “fools”–revolutionaries are afraid that even the devastated wilderness will be further destroyed.

kishti juzv2-e toofaaN hai, andaaza3-e toofaaN kya hoga
1.accusation, fault 2.part of 3.estimation, appreciation
Those on shore are watching the storm from a distance. The boat which is a part of the storm is getting tossed along with it. So they don’t have an appreciation of the strength of the storm that is affecting the boat. The revolutionaries/comrades are in the middle of the storm. Onlookers, watching from a distance cannot appreciate what they are going through.

husn ki saari taabish1 thhi, anvaar2-e mohabbat ke dum3 tak
parvaane4 mahfil meN nahiN ab, jashn5-e chiraaGhaaN kya hoga
1.brilliance, glow 2.rays of light 3.breath, life, strength 4.moth, lover, revolutionary 5.celebration
“husn” – beauty is the new socialist order and “anvaar-e mohabbat” – rays of light are the sources of inspiration, revolutionary comrades. Thus the brilliance of beauty was all due to them. Now that they are no longer in the mahfil, how can we have a celebration of lights. I am not sure but “they are no longer in the mahfil” may be because they have been imprisoned (as happened at one stage to many communist party members/leaders).

kaliyaaN jitna chaaheN haNs leN, aaj inheN aazadi hai
kal ki nisbat1 kaun kahe aa’een2-e gulistaaN kya hoga
1.relationship (of power) 2.laws, traditions
“kaliyaaN” are collaborators with the British or with the capitalist power structure. Thus, collaborators are relatively secure and happy today … they have the ability. But who can tell what their position will be tomorrow, what the laws of the garden will be!

shahid ye maujauN ka talaatum1 mere liye ek raahat2 hai
Gharqaabi3 ki hasrat4 hai, andesha5-e toofaaN kya hoga
1.tumult 2.comfort 3.drowning in water 4.yearning 5.apprehension, fear
O Shahid, these tumultous waves are a source of comfort for me. I yearn to be drowned in water, how can I be apprehensive of the storm (the socialist revolution).
