نہائی ہے ۔ سکندر علی وجد
زندگی خون میں نہائی ہے
لوگ سمجھے بہار آئی ہے
بڑھ گیا حسن و احترامِ حیات
موت شرما کے مُسکُرائی ہے
ہم سفیرو کہاں کی آزادی
دام سے تا قفس رہائی ہے
مُسکُراتے ہیں پھول کانٹوں میں
ہائے کیا طرزِ دِلرُبائی ہے
اور تو آئینہ میں عیب نہیں
صاف دِل ہے یہی بُرائی ہے
وجد شوقِ تلاشِ منزل بھی
اعترافِ شکستہ پائی ہے
नहाई है – सिकंदर अली वज्द
ज़िन्दगी ख़ून में नहाई है
लोग समझे बहार आई है
बढ़ गया हुस्न-ओ एहतेराम-ए हयात
मौत शर्मा के मुस्कुराई है
हम सफ़ीरो, कहाँ की आज़ादी
दाम से ता क़फ़स रेहाई है
मुस्कुराते हैं फूल कांटों में
हाय क्या तर्ज़-ए दिलरुबाई है
और तो आईने में ऐब नहीं
साफ़ दिल है यही बुराई है
वज्द शौक़-ए तलाश-ए मंज़िल भी
ऐतेराफ़-ए शिकस्ता पाई है

Looking at yourself in the mirror is an expression of examining oneself. On top of it the mirror gives a true reflection. Metaphorically this process can apply not just to looks but also to character. Thus the mirror has no defect other than that it is a simpleton and speaks the truth (which is painful).
vajd shauq1-e-talaash-e-manzil bhi

mohammed iqbal calls us to not focus on achievement of the goal but on the struggle to reach the goal. vajd seems to be going a step further. He says that desire for the search for the goal is a confession of weakness. This might mean that you should have struggle for the sake of struggle – not necessarily struggle as a part of the search for your goal.
