سارے جہاں میں رسوا ہندوستاں ہمارا
ہم اِس کے چیل کوّے یہ بے زباں ہمارا
پربت وہ سب سے اونچا، اب منہ چھپا رہا ہے

ہندی تو ہم نہیں ہیں، ہندوستاں ہمارا

یوں مںہ چِڑا رہا ہے، دورِ زماں ہمارا

یونان و مسر و روما، سب مِٹ گئے جہاں سے
اب جلد ہی مِٹے گا، نام و نشاں ہمارا
کِس کو سنائے گنگا، عظمت کی داستانیں
ہے ڈاکوؤں کا ہمسر، اب کارواں ہمارا

دُنیا سے ہم الگ ہیں، دُنیا الگ ہماری
ذِلّت مآب اب ہے، پیر و جواں ہمارا
اے آبِ روُدِ گنگا، دھو دے گناہ ورنہ
ڈوبے گا ہم کو لے کر وہم و گماں ہمارا

چارؤں طرف سے پیہم ہے لعانتوں کی بارش
اب آسمان خود ہے نوحہ کناں ہمارا
اِنسانیت کے دُشمن، فرقہ پرست سارے
اب چھوڑ دیں خدارا، ہندوستاں ہمارا

لیکن فرقہ پرست ظالم فسطائی کہہ رہے ہیں
آساں نہیں مِٹانا نام و نشاں ہمارا
ماخوذ روز ہوں گے اب ہم عدالتوں میں
کیا کچھ بگاڑ لے گا دورِ زماں ہمارا

سب رہبرانِ مِلّت ثابت ہوئے مُنافق
دنیا کے سامنے ہے چہرہ عیاں ہمارا
دنیا میں کوئی محرم اپنا نہ ہو سکے گا
اب سب سمجھ چکے ہیں کذبِ نہاں ہمارا

خود اپنے ساکِنوں کو جنّت مکاں بنا کر
گجرات بن رہا ہے جنّت مکاں ہمارا
اب تو سبھی ہیں واقف بدنیّتی سے اپنی
گلزارؔ اب کہاں ہے گلزارِ جاں ہمارا

ज़िल्लत मा’आब अब है, पीर ओ जवां हमारा
अए आब-ए रूद-ए गंगा, धो दे गुनाह वरना

अब आसमान ख़ुद है, नौहा कुनां हमारा
इन्सानियत के दुश्मन, फ़िर्क़ा परस्त सारे
अब छोड़ दें ख़ुदारा, हिन्दोस्तां हमारा

लैकिन फ़िर्क़ा परस्त ज़ालिम, फ़िस्ताई कह रहे हैं
आसां नहिं मिटाना, नाम ओ निशां हमारा
माख़ूज़ रोज़ होंगे, अब हम अदालतौं में
क्या तू बिगाड़ ले गा दौर-ए ज़मां हमारा

सब रहबरान-ए मिल्लत, साबित हुए मुनाफ़िक़
और सब के सामने है, चेहरा अयां हमारा
दुनिया में कोई महरम अपना ना हो सकेगा
अब सब समझ चुके हैं कज़्ब-ए निहां हमारा

ख़ुद अपने साकिनौं को जन्नत मकां बना कर
गुजरात बन रहा है जन्नत मकां हमारा

He also does not hesitate in speaking ‘truth to power’. This is a parody on iqbal’s ‘taraana-e hindi’. There are many misra that are exact parallels of what iqbal wrote and sarcastically turned around to reflect the current political conditions.

Our hindostan has been shamed before the whole world. We are like hawks and crows pecking at its innocent body. That mountain, highest in the world, hides its face in shame. Our sentry (the mountain range) laughs at us (in derision).

Religion is teaching us to hold grudges against one another. We are not (true) Indians but we claim that India is ours. Surely, our civilization will be wiped off the face of the earth. The whole world is making fun of us.

The ancient civilizations of Greeks, Egyptians and Romans have been lost. Our will soon be wiped out. Then to whom will the Ganges relate stories of the greatness of our culture. Our own caravan has become even more fierce than that of robbers.

We are unique in this world. Our culture is different. Every youth and senior is now maligned. O waters of Ganges, wash off our sins, otherwise our mutual suspicion and fear will drown us.

Constantly, from all around curses/criticisms rain down on us. Even the heavens weep at our condition. By god, I wish that these communalists, enemies of humanity, leave hindostan and go away.

aasaaN nahiN miTaana, naam o nishaaN hamaara
maaKhooz4 roz hoNge, ab hum adaalatauN5 meN
kya tu bigaaR le ga daur-e-zamaaN6 hamaara 1.communal 2.oppressors 3.fascists 4.apprehended, arrested 5.courts (of law) 6.present times, the world
But these communal oppressors and fascists do not seem to care, are not afraid. They taunt us that it is not easy to wipe them out. They declare that they may be arrested and brought to court every day but none can do them any harm.

aur sub ke saamne hai, chehra ayaaN4 hamaara
duniya meN koii mahram5 apna na ho sakega
ab sub samajh chuke haiN kazb6-e nihaaN7 hamaara 1.leaders of the nation 2.proven 3.hypocrites 4.revealed 5.confidant, friend 6.hypocricy 7.hidden
All the leaders of the nation have been proven to be hypocrites. Our true face is now revealed to everyone. There will be none in the world that will befriend us. They all now understand our hidden hypocricy.

gujarat ban raha hai jannat-makaaN hamaara
ab to subhi haiN vaaqif3, badniyyati4 se apni

Gujarat wants to cleanse itself and become ‘heaven’ by dispatching its own people to their ‘heavenly abode’. Now everyone is aware of our insincerity. O, gulzar where has the beloved garden of ours gone.
