بے  پا  و  سر  ہوئے  ۔  منشی  ہرگوپال  تفتہؔ

 

غالب  وہ  شخص  تھا  ہمہ  داں  جس  کے  فیض  سے

ہم  سے  ہزار  ہیچ  مداں  نامور  ہوئے

فیضِ  کمال  و  صدق  و  صفا  اور  حسن  و  عشق

چھہ  لفظ  اُس  کے  مرنے  سے  بے  پا  و  سر  ہوئے

 

آفتاب  ہند  غروب  ۔  منشی  بال  مکند  بیصبرؔ  سکندرآبادی

 

اسد  اللہ  خاں  وہ  غالب  آہ،  جس  سے  اہلِ  کلام  تھے  مغلوب

جب  سدھارے  بسوئے  خلد  ہوئے،  سخن  اُن  کے  الم  میں  سینہ  کوب

اس  سپہرِ  سخن  کے  اختر  کا،  مجھ  کو  سالِ  غروب  تھا  مطلوب

کہا  عیسیٰ  نے  از  سرِ  حسرت،  ہوا  آفتابِ  ہند  غروب

बे-पा ओ सर हुए – मुंशी हरगोपाल तुफ़्ता

 

ग़ालिब वो शख़्स था हमा-दां जिस के फ़ैज़ से

हम से हज़ार हेच-मदां नामवर हुए

फ़ैज़-ए कमाल ओ सिद्क़ ओ सफ़ा और हुस्न ओ इश्क़

छे लफ़्ज़ उस के मरने से बे-पा ओ सर हुए

 

आफ़्ताब-ए हिंद ग़ुरूब – मुंशी बालमुकुंद बेताब

 

असदुल्लाह ख़ां वो ग़ालिब आह, जिस से अहल-ए कलाम थे मग़्लूब

जब सिधारे ब-सू-ए ख़ुल्द हुए, सुख़न उन के अलम में सीना-कूब

इस सिप’हर-ए सुख़न के अख़्तर का, मुझ को साल-ए ग़ुरूब था मत्लूब

कहा ईसा ने अज़ सर-ए हसरत, हुआ आफ़्ताब-ए हिंद ग़ुरूब

munshi baalmukund be-sabr (1810-1885) shaagird and nephew of hargopal tufta, but persuaded by him to switch to Ghalib as his ustaad. 3 diivaan 2 urdu 1 faarsi, 4 masnavi 3 urdu 1 faarsi. His qita uses number system for letters to record the date of Ghalib’s passing.

jab sidhaare4 ba-soo5-e Khuld6 hue, suKhan7 unn ke alam8 meN siina-koob9
iss sip’har10-e suKhan7 ke aKhtar11 ka, mujh ko saal-e Ghuroob12 tha matloob13
kahaa eesaa14 ne az15 sar-e hasrat16, huaa aaftaab-e hind Ghuroob12

Alas, that asadullah KhaaN Ghalib, of whom all poets were in awe
When he departed towards heaven, poetry beat its bosom in sorrow
To record the year of setting of the bright star shielding verse, I asked
Jesus replied, in great sorrow, that the sun of hindostan has set
