ایک ہاں ہے تری، بقا کیا ہے
اک نہیں ہے تری، فنا کیا ہے

آخر اس عشق کی دوا کیا ہے
تو ہی درد آفریں، بتا کیا ہے

تجھ پہ مرتے ہیں کیوں یہ پروانے
شمع کہہ دے یہ ماجرا کیا ہے

مے کو کہتے ہیں سب بری شے ہے
ہم بھی دیکھیں تو، ساقیا کیا ہے

رختِ ہستی اُتار دینا ہے
اور اس کے سوا فنا کیا ہے

مذہبِ عشق میں کسے معلوم
کہ روا کیا ہے ناروا کیا ہے

ایمنؔ آتا نہیں نظر برسوں

ek ‘nahiN’3 hai teri, fanaa4 kya hai 1.yes, acceptance 2.survival, life 3.no, rejection 4.annihilation, destruction
Life is nothing more than your acceptance (of my love). Death/destruction is nothing but your rejection (of me).

aaKhir1 is ishq ki davaa kya hai
tu hi dard-aafriiN2 bata kya hai 1.after all 2.pain creating, beloved
The beloved is referred to as ‘dard aafriiN’ – pain creating. It is love for her that causes pain. The poet then is throwing the responsibility of finding the cure on her.

tujh pe marte haiN kyuN ye parvaane1
sham’a2 kah de, ye maajra3 kya hai 1.moth 2.candle flame 3.predicament, condition

Everyone says that wine is a bad thing. O saaqi, let me see how bad it is.

What is death except for taking off the robes of life. The implication is that this is a temporary garment/covering. Taking it off takes you back to the essence-the spirit.
