شب کی تاریکی میں اک اور ستارہ ٹوٹا

طوق توڑے گئے، ٹوٹی زنجیر

جگمگانے لگا ترشے ہوے ہیرے کی طرح

آدمیت کا ضمیر

پھر اندھیرے میں کسی ہاتھ میں خنجر چمکا

شب کے سناٹے میں پھر خون کے دریا چمکے

 

صبح دم جب مرے دروازے سے گزری ہے صبا

اپنے چہرے پہ ملے خونِ سحر گذری ہے

خیر ہو مجلسِ اقوام کی سلطانی کی

خیر ہو حق کی، صداقت کی، جہاں بانی کی

اور اونچی ہوئی صحرا میں اُمیدوں کی صلیب

اور اک قطرہٗ خوں چشمِ سحر سے ٹپکا

 

جب تلک دہر میں قاتل کا نشاں باقی ہے

تم مٹاتے ہی چلے جاؤ نشاں قاتل کے

روز ہو جشنِ شہیدانِ وفا چپ نہ رہو

بار بار آ تی ہے مقتل سے صدا، چپُ نہ رہو،

چپ نہ رہو

शब की तारीकी में एक और सितारा टूटा

तौक़ तोड़े गए, टूटी ज़ंजीर

जगमगाने लगा तरशे हुए हीरे की तरह

आदमियत का ज़मीर

फिर अंधेरे में किसी हाथ में खंजर चमका

शब के सन्नाटे में फिर ख़ून के दरया चमके

 

सुबह दम जब मेरे दरवाज़े से गुज़री है सबा

अपने चेहरे पे मले ख़ून ए सहर गुज़री है

ख़ैर हो मजलिस ए अक़वाम की सुल्तानी की

ख़ैर हो हक़ की, सदाक़त की, जहां बानी की

और ऊँची हुई सेहरा में उम्मीदों की सेलेब

और एक क़तरा ए ख़ूं चश्म ए सहर से टपका

 

जब तलक दहर में क़ातिल का निशां बाक़ी है

तुम मिटाते ही चले जाओ निशां क़ातिल के

रोज़ हो जश्न ए शहीदान ए वफ़ा, चुप ना रहो

बार बार आती है मक़तल से सदा, चुप ना रहो,

The first stanza speaks of the rise of Lumumba like a brilliant shooting star, liberating his people. Also see maKhdoom’s tribute to Martin Luther King. Urdu shu’ara (poets) showed great sensitivity to liberation movements across the world and reached out to fellow poets and writers in Africa. phir andhere meN kisi haath meN Khanjar chamka
shab ke sannaTe meN phir Khoon ke darya chamke

He rose like a shooting star ripping through the dark, night sky, breaking shackles, cutting chains. He shone brightly like a polished diamond as if he was the conscience of humanity. But, once again, in the dark, the glint of a dagger, a murderous hand, gushing blood, rippling in the stillness of the night.

apne chehre pe male`9 Khoon e sahr10 guzri hai
Khair11 ho majlis e aqwaam12 ki sultani13 ki
Khair ho haq14 ki, sadaqat15 ki, jahaN bani16 ki

aur ek qatra e KhooN chashm20 e sahr se Tapka

That morning when Breeze came to my door, she was crestfallen, Dawn’s blood smeared on her face. May the power of the United Nations be preserved, may justice, truth and law survive. This is sarcasm about the powerlessness or collusion of the United Nations. The hopes of the oppressed nailed to the cross again and raised high for everyone to see. Dawn, crying tears of blood again.

tum miTaate hi chale jaao nishaaN qaatil ke
roz ho jashn e shaheedan e vafa23, chup na raho

As long as the killer walks on this earth, let us keep trying to vanquish him. Let us celebrate the martyrdom of the faithful every day. Again and again the slaughter house echoes, do not be quiet, do not be quiet.
