دردِ  اُلفت  کے  سوا  دہر  میں  رکّھا  کیا  ہے

یہ  شب  و  روز  کی  گردش  کا  تماشا  کیا  ہے

زندگی  دل  کے  دھڑکنے  پہ  ہے  موقوف  مگر

دل  ہی  لے  ڈوبے  گا  اس  دل  کا  بھروسا  کیا  ہے

اس  قدر  پہلو  تہی  مجھ  سے  خدا  خیر  کرے

لوگ  سوچیں  گے  مرا  آپ  سے  جھگڑا  کیا  ہے

پرسشِ  غم  کو  وہ  آئے  مرے  احباب  جنہیں

یہ  بھی  معلوم  نہیں  غم  کا  مداوا  کیا  ہے

آج  پھر  آیا  ہے  اے  دوست  مرے  خط  کا  جواب

یہ  نہیں  تم  کو  بتاؤں  گا  کہ  لکّھا  کیا  ہے

میری  صورت  پہ  مرے  حال  پہ  ہنسنے  والو

تم  نے  دیوانے  کے  کردار  کو  سمجھا  کیا  ہے

اس  سے  مستور  ہیں  قدرت  کے  ہزاروں  جلوے

چشمِ  بینا  نے  ابھی  دہر  میں  دیکھا  کیا  ہے

ہِجر  میں  رشکؔ  مجھے  آتا  ہے  اُس  بُت  کا  خیال

میں  تو  جی  لوں  گا  اسی  حال  میں  میرا  کیا  ہے

दहर में रक्खा क्या है – सुखदेव शरमा रश्क

आप से राज़-ए हक़ीक़त को छुपाना क्या है

दर्द-ए उल्फ़त के सिवा दुनिया में रक्खा क्या है

अक़्ल हैरान है दुनिया का मा’ओम्मा क्या है

ये शब ओ रोज़ कि गरदिश का तमाशा क्या है

ज़िन्दगी दिल के धढकने पे है मौक़ूफ़ मगर

दिल हि ले डूबेगा इस दिल का भरोसा क्या है

इस क़दर पहलू-तेही मुझ से ख़ुदा ख़ैर करे

लोग सोचेंगे मेरा आप से झगढा क्या है

पुर्सिश-ए ग़म को वो आए मेरे अहबाब जिन्हें

ये भी मा’लूम नहीं ग़म का मुदावा क्या है

आज फिर आया है अए दोस्त मेरे ख़त का जवाब

ये नहीं तुम को बताऊंगा के लिक्खा क्या है

मेरी सूरत पे मेरे हाल पे हंसने वालो

तुम ने दीवाने के किरदार को समझा क्या है

इस से मस्तूर हैं क़ुद्रत के हज़ारौं जल्वे

चश्म-ए बीना ने अभी दहर में देखा क्या है

हिज्र में रश्क मुझे आता है उस बुत का ख़याल

मैं तो जी लूंगा इसी हाल में मेरा क्या है

His ustaad was raghubiir daas sahir sialkoTvi. He worked for All India Radio and progressed steadily and at the time of publication (1983) of his diivaan was Director of Urdu and English programs in the AIR jaalandhar office. This Ghazal in the style of Ghalib’s ‘dil-e naadaaN tujhe hua kya hai’ is linked to ‘Ghalib naqsh-e qadam’.

Life depends on the beating/throbbing of the heart, but, the heart itself will carry you under as it drowns; how can we trust the heart i.e., the heart will cause you to fall in love and that will result in death/drowning.
