جسم رقصاں ہے مرا، روح غزل گاتی ہے
چاند نے آج سنوارا ہے جو سیمیں چہرہ
رات بے خود ہے ستاروں کو ہنسی آتی ہے

کارواں بن کے چلا جذبۂ دیدارِ جمال
فرش پر دیدۂ انجم کی ضیا باری ہے
آج فطرت نے سجایا ہے شبستانِ جہاں
کس شہنشاہ کی آمد کی یہ تیاری ہے

جذبۂ دل میں کشِش خوب ہے اے سازِ حیات
رنگ بھرتا ہے کوئی نور سے ویرانوں میں
کیوں نہ ہو شوق سے اس رات زمیں بوس فلک
جو تھا خالق وہی مخلوق ہے انسانوں میں

درد مندوں کی دعا پہنچی سرِ بابِ قبول
سرورِ کون و مکاں آئے مسیحا بن کر
شامِ غربت کو کیا حسنِ ازل نے روشن
ہم گنہگاروں کی بخشِش کا سہارا بن کر

जिस्म रक़्सां है मेरा, रूह ग़ज़ल गाती है
चांद ने आज सवांरा है जो सीमीं चेहरा
रात बेख़ुद है सितारौं को हंसी आती है

कारवां बन के चला जज़्बा-ए दीदार-ए जमाल
फ़र्श पर दीदा-ए अंजुम की ज़िया-बारी है
आज फ़ित्रत ने सजाया है शबिस्तान-ए जहां
किस शहंशाह की आमद की ये तैयारी है

जज़्बा-ए दिल में कशिश ख़ूब है अए साज़-ए हयात
रंग भरता है कोई नूर से वीरानौं में
क्यूं न हो शौक़ से इस रात ज़मीं-बोस फ़लक
जो था ख़ालेक़ वही मख़्लूक़ है इंसानौं में

सरवर-ए कौन-ओ-मकां आए मसीहा बन कर

jism5 raqsaaN6 hai mera, rooh7 Ghazal gaati hai
chaand ne aaj saNvaara8 hai jo siimiiN9 chehra

Today, the world is at the peak of abundance of the means of joy and festivity. The body dances with joy, and the soul sings Ghazal. The moon has adorned its silvery face tonight and the night, overwhelmed with ecstasy, is in a trance, bringing laughter to the stars (twinkling of stars). This stanza celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, reflecting universal joy. The poet uses grand imagery to convey the ecstatic harmony of the body and soul, symbolizing the spiritual and physical worlds joining in celebration. The celestial imagery of the moon and stars is probably about the fable of the three kings following the brightest star to find their way to the manger in Bethlehem.

The caravan of longing to witness (divine) glory sets out, the radiance of the stars illuminates the earth. The heart is filled with a strong/irresistable captivating passion, O melody of life; a divine light fills even the barren lands with colourful beauty; why wouldn’t heavens not bow down to the earth in loving reverence when the creator has taken the form of the created among humans on earth?
