Khushi yaad aayee na Gham yaad aaye
mohabbat ke naaz1 o na’am2 yaad aaye
1.coquettishness, coyness 2.substitute, fake, playful mischief
The poet/lover reminisces. The joys and sorrows of encounters with the beloved is not what he remembers first. It is her coyness and her playful mischief that comes to mind.

ye kyuN dam ba dam hichkiyaaN aa rahi haiN
kiya yaad tum ne ke hum yaad aaye
There is folklore that if someone remembers you, you get hiccups. The poet/lover has hiccups again and again and is wondering if she is remembering him of her own volition or if he has forced his memory upon him (how, I don’t know).

gulauN ki ravish1 dekh kar gulsitaaN meN
shaheedauN2 ke naqsh-e-qadam3 yaad aaye
1.pathway 2.martyrs 3.footprints
The poet observes rose petals along pathways in the garden and remembers (reverentially) the footprints of martyrs (I am not sure which martyrs – probably martyrs of karbala).

burauN ka bahut naam japti hai duniya
jo achhe ziyada thay kum yaad aaye
The world remembers (chants the name of) evil doers (somehow they manage to get a good reputation). But those who are more virtuous are seldom remembered.

dam-e-naz’aa1 jooN-hi2 ajal3 muskuraai
achaanak4 tumhaare karam5 yaad aaye
1.moment of death, last breath 2.as soon as 3.angel of death 4.suddenly 5.kindness
The poet/lover likens the beloved to the angel of death. Her kindness is like the beguiling smile of the angel of death just has she (the angel) is drawing life out with the last breath.

museebat meN bhi baar-ha1 vajd mujh ko
Khuda jaanta hai, sanam2 yaad aaye
1.many times 2.idols, beloved
This is a nice play on words and sarcasm towards orthodoxy. During times of difficulty you are supposed to remember god, not idols. But god knows I have done it many times!
