دکھا بھی نہ سکوں ۔ رامچندر ورما ساحلؔ

جس نے بخشی ہے فغاں اُس کو سنا بھی نہ سکوں
کیسا نغمہ ہے جسے ساز پہ گا بھی نہ سکوں

دل میں اِک اُس کے سوا دوسری تصویر نہیں
اُس کے آئینے کو اُس کو ہی دکھا بھی نہ سکوں

تم انا چھوڑ کے آؤ تو بُھلا دوں ہر رنج
حرف قسمت کا نہیں ہوں کہ مٹا بھی نہ سکوں

سوچ لے اب بھی تیرے ہاتھ ہے دونوں کا سُکُوں
ورنہ ممکن ہے کبھی لوٹ کے آ بھی نہ سَکوں

ہائے پابندیٔ بے چارگیٔ عہدِ وفا
زخم اُس کے ہی اسے گِن کے بتا بھی نہ سکوں

وہ تو قطروں کو بھی ترساتا ہے دریا ہو کر
آگ جو دل میں لگی ہے وہ بجھا بھی نہ سکوں

बोझ ऐसा है गुनाहों का के जिस को साहेल

He did a diploma in mechanical engineering followed by a degree in telecommunications engineering from dehli university. He retired as assistant director of the department of telecommunications of the government of India. He has at least four published collections of Ghazal, nazm and rubaaii. There is no mention of how he came to urdu, perhaps his family, brought a love of urdu from their homeland of Dera Ghaazi KhaaN. This Ghazal is one of several he composed in the radeef/qaafiya of Ghalib and is linked to ‘Ghalib naqsh-e qadam’.

I cannot get her to hear my wailing, she who has granted me so much pain that I wail. What kind of a song is this that I cannot sing it with music. This could well be a reference to god, who has given the pain of life and does not hear complaints.

us ke aa’ine2 ko us ko hi dikha bhi na sakuN 1.except for 2.mirror, reflection, image, heart
Because the heart reflects the image of the one who is loved/venerated it is also referred to as a mirror. This she’r could also be about either the beloved or god. I do not have in the mirror of my heart any other image except that of the beloved/god, but I cannot even show my mirror/heart to her (or god).

harf3 qismat ka nahiN huN ki miTa4 bhi na sakuN 1.ego, conceit, false pride 2.sorrow 3.word 4.erase
If you leave aside your conceit and come, then I can forget all my sorrows. After all my sorrows are not like words of fate which cannot be erased.

Think, you have in your grasp the peace and happiness of both (the lover and the beloved), otherwise it may not be possible for me to come back.

Alas, the constraints and helplessness of my promise to be faithful to her (the promise implies that he will hide his pain), I cannot even count the wounds of my heart and show it to her.

aag jo dil meN lagi hai vo bujha bhi na sakuN 1.drops 2.makes me thirst for 3.ocean
He even makes me thirst for drops, even though he is the ocean. I cannot even put out the fire in my heart. This clearly is a reference to god. He does not reveal himself.

apne kamzor4 se kaaNdhoN5 pe uTha bhi na sakuN 1.weight 2.sins 3.pen-name of the poet 4.weak 5.shoulders
O saahil, the weight of my sins is so heavy that I cannot carry it on my weak shoulders.
