ترا  ہی  نام  کافی  ہے  تو  غیروں  کا  بیاں  کیوں  ہو

نئے  کردار  سے  بوجھل  یہ  میری  داستاں  کیوں  ہو

ترے  بھی  پاؤں  بڑھتے  ہیں  مری  باہیں  بھی  پھیلی  ہیں

تو  پھر  یہ  فاصلہ  اتنا  ہمارے  درمیاں  کیوں  ہو

اگر  ہے  راہبر  صادق  تو  کوئی  راہ  دکھلائے

جو  بھٹکے  در  بہ  در  ایسے  وہ  میرِ  کارواں  کیوں  ہو

ہو  دل  میں  غم  مگر  پر  نم  نہ  ہو  آنکھیں  کبھی  تیری

چھپا  ہے  دل  میں  جو  دریا  وہ  آنکھوں  سے  رواں  کیوں  ہو

ذرا  بزمِ  سخن  دیکھے  مرا  معیارِ  فن  لوگو

دیا  ہے  جو  خدا  نے  فن  مجھے  وہ  رائیگاں  کیوں  ہو

کئی  کہسار  درد  و  غم  کے  دنیا  میں  اٹھانے  ہیں

تو  پھر  یہ  ہجر  کی  شب  ایک  مجھ  پر  سرگراں  کیوں  ہو

یہ  اچھا  ہے  کہ  سوزِ  عشق  میں  چپ  چاپ  جل  جائیں

فقط  تشہیر  کی  خاطر  سحابؔ  اتنا  دھواں  کیوں  ہو

तेरा ही नाम काफ़ी है तो ग़ैरों का बयाँ क्यों हो

नए किरदार से बोझल ये मेरी दास्ताँ क्यों हो

तेरे भी पाँव बढ़ते हैं मेरी बाहें भी फैली हैं

तो फिर ये फ़ासला इतना हमारे दरमियाँ क्यों हो

अगर है राहबर सादेक़ तो कोई राह दिखलाए

जो भटके दर-ब-दर ऐसे वो मीर-ए कारवाँ क्यों हो

हो दिल में ग़म मगर पुर-नम न हो आँखें कभी तेरी

छुपा है दिल में जो दर्या वो आँखों से रवाँ क्यों हो

ज़रा बज़्म-ए सुख़न देखे मेरा मे’आर-ए फ़न लोगो

दिया है जो ख़ुदा ने फ़न मुझे वो राएगाँ क्यों हो

कई कोहसार दर्द-ओ-ग़म के दुनिया में उठाने हैं

तो फिर ये हिज्र की शब एक मुझ पर सरगिराँ क्यों हो

ये अच्छा है के सोज़-ए इश्क़ में चुप-चाप जल जाएँ

फ़क़त तश्हीर की ख़ातेर सहाब इतना धुआँ क्यों हो

Your name alone is enough. Why then should names of the rivals be mentioned. Why should my story be burdened with these new/strange characters.

chhupa hai dil meN jo dariya2 vo aaNkhoN se ravaaN3 kyuN ho

This she’r is addressed to the poet/lover himself or to other lovers. You may have the pain of love in your heart, but your eyes should never get moist/tearful. The river that is hidden in your heart, why should it flow from your eyes.

diya hai jo Khuda ne fun4 mujhe vo raa’egaaN5 kyuN ho
