آرزوئے کامرانی سعیِ لاحاصل میں ہے
دور ہوں منزل سے پھر بھی ہر قدم منزل میں ہے

مطمئن چہرہ، چہکتے ہونٹ، رخشندہ جبیں
کون سمجھے غم کی وہ شِدّت جو میرے دل میں ہے

دیکھنے کو آج اِنساں ہے سرافرازِ جہاں
سوچئے تو آج کا اِنساں بڑی مشکل میں ہے

قہقہے، نغمے، بہاریں، شوخیاں، رعنائیاں
زندگی کا ہر تصوّر آپ کی محفل میں ہے

بچ کے طوفانوں سے کشتی غرقِ ساحل ہو گئی
عافیت ہی عافیت اب دامنِ ساحل میں ہے

آرزو کی موت، پھر اک آرزو، پھر اُس کی موت

आफ़िय्यत हि आफ़िय्यत अब दामन-ए साहिल में है

He was the shaagird of labhuram josh malsiani and specialized in composing in a short bahr/meter. This Ghazal, in the zamin of Ghalib’s ‘ye bhi meray dil meN hai’, is linked to Ghalib naqsh-e qadam.

The (fulfillment of the) desire for success lies in an effort that is unmindful of results; that focuses on the right thing to do, without worrying about benefits. Even if we are far away from the destination, the effort remains steadfast with every step in the right direction.

sochiye to aaj ka insaaN baRi mushkil meN hai 1.exalted, respected 2.world
‘dekhne ko’ is used to mean looking at something at the surface i.e. superficially. Thus, superficially it appears that humans have eminence in this world but if you think about it, humans have many problems/difficulties.

bach ke toofaanoN se kashti Gharq1-e saahil2 ho gaii
aafiyyat3 hi aafiyyat ab daaman4-e saahil meN hai 1.drowned 2.shore 3.safety, well being 4.hem of the robe, used here to mean protection
The literal meaning is simple enough … the boat (of life) has gone through storms and survived, but as it arrived at the shore, it sank. Presumably the poet himself was able to reach the shore, because he says that now he has complete safety in the protection of the shore. Beyond this literal meaning, I cannot figure out what he wants to say. I would appreciate any help anyone can provide.
