موت نے مغرب و مشرق کا سکوں لوٹ لیا

دل شکستہِ غمِ دوراں ہے کہ غم خوار گیا
غمِ دل مائلِ فریاد کہ دلدار گیا
زرد، افسردہ و حیراں ہے رُخِ امن و سکوں
امنِ عالم کا طلب گار و نگہدار گیا
دیکھئے حسرتِ تعمیر پہ کیا گزرے گی
ساتھ ہی اُس کے فروغِ در و دیوار گیا

مادرِ ہند کی ہر سانس ہے اک نشترِ غم

دجلہ و نیل کی موجیں ہیں فغاں آمادہ

چہرۂ منزل مقصود ہے روُپوشِ غبار
قافلہ راہ میں ہے، قافلہ سالار گیا
شدّتِ غم سے تعیّن کی حدیں ٹوٹ گئیں

یک بیک دل میں اک آہنگِ خوش انداز آئی
قالبِ نور میں ڈھلتی ہوئی آواز آئی

آ گئی نیند مسیحا کو تو مایوس نہ ہو
کہ محبّت کی مسیحا نفسی باقی ہے
دَورِ پیمانہ رُکا ہے تو گِلہ مند نہ ہو
چشمِ ساقی کا سُرورِ ابدی باقی ہے
سُست بنیاد ہے یہ کشمکشِ مرگ و حیات
پرتوِ عشق خفی ہو کہ جلی، باقی ہے

مشعلِ نُور ہے مخلوقِ خدا کی خِدمت
اسی مشعل سے فروغِ ازلی باقی ہے
نہ رہا تیشۂ فرہاد تو دل تنگ نہ ہو
ہمّتِ بازوئے مزدور ابھی باقی ہے
زُلفِ آشفتۂ گیتی بھی سنور جائے گی
ہم نفس عشق کی آشفتہ سری باقی ہے

दौर-ए पैमाना रुका है तो गिला-मंद न हो

सुस्त बुन्याद है ये कश्मकश-ए मर्ग ओ हयात
परतव-ए इश्क़ ख़फ़ी हो के जली, बाक़ी है

इसी मश’अल से फ़रोग़-ए अज़ली बाक़ी है
न रहा तीशा-ए फ़रहाद तो दिल-तंग न हो
हिम्मत-ए बाज़ू-ए मज़्दूर अभी बाक़ी है
ज़ुल्फ़-ए आशुफ़्ता-ए गेती भी संवर जाएगी
हम-नफ़स, इश्क़ की आशुफ़्ता-सरी बाक़ी है

कहीं मिटता है जमाल-ए रुख़-ए ज़ेबा-ए हयात
हुस्न बाक़ी है अगर ख़ुश-नज़री बाक़ी है

दिल हो बेदार तो उस शूख़ के पैग़ाम बहुत
