کُھل  گیا  آخر  فریبِ  انتہائے  عاشقی

پاؤں  جس  منزل  میں  رکھا  تھا  اُسی  منزل  میں  ہے

کیوں  عبث  گھبرا  رہے  ہو  حرفِ  عرضِ  شوق  سے

میری  حسرت  بھی  وہی  ہے  جو  تمہارے  دل  میں  ہے

شوق  کے  جذبات  کی  تکمیل  شاید  ہو  چلی

عشق  جس  منزل  میں  تھا  اب  حسن  اس  منزل  میں  ہے

خاک  برسر  دست  بر  دل  عرش  و  کرسی  در  نظر

اُس  کی  محفل  ہی  الگ  ہے  جو  تری  محفل  میں  ہے

آرزوؔ  ہر  شعر  میرا  کیوں  نہ  ہو  تفسیرِ  دوست

میری  ہر  پرواز  حسنِ  قدس  کی  منزل  میں  ہے

काएनात-ए हर दो आलम इश्क़ की मंज़िल में है

तुम हो जब उज्ढे हुए दिल में तो सब कुछ दिल में है

कामियाबी-ए तमन्ना स’ई-ए ला-हासिल में है

लुत्फ़ मंज़िल में कहां जो हस्रत-ए मंज़िल में है

खुल गया आख़िर फ़रेब-ए इंतेहा-ए आशिक़ी

पाँव जिस मंज़िल में रक्खा था वो उसी मंज़िल में है

क्यूं अबस घब्रा रहे हो हर्फ़-ए अर्ज़-ए शौक़ से

मेरी हस्रत भी वही है जो तुम्हारे दिल में है

शौक़ के जज़्बात की तक्मील शा’एद हो चली

इश्क़ जिस मंज़िल में था अब हुस्न उस मंज़िल में है

ख़ाक बर-सर, दस्त बर-दिल, अर्श ओ कुर्सी दर-नज़र

उसकी महफ़िल ही अलग है जो तेरी महफ़िल में है

आर्ज़ू हर शे’र मेरा क्यों न हो तफ़्सीर-ए दोस्त

मेरी हर परवाज़ हुस्न-ए क़ुद्स की मंज़िल में है

There are at least two collections of Ghazal and nazm. There is precious little by way of biographical information but it seems that he was associated with teaching (perhaps urdu) in some college in kolkata. If you want to achieve the here and hereafter, then your goal should be love. The ‘tum’ in the second misra is addressed to god. If you come into my desolate heart then I have both worlds in my heart. Thus, it is love of god that is the goal.

In conventional love the beloved keeps the suitor/lover dangling in suspense, promising success, but never reaches the destination. Thus, at last the deception of the goal of love was revealed. Where I first stepped on the path of love, I am still there.

The poet/lover is getting ready to express/present his desire/love to the beloved. She perceives what is going on and looks worried. The poet reassures her … you are needlessly worried about my expression of desire. My yearning is the same as what is in your heart.

Usually, the stage of love the lover is in is usually one of restlessness and yearning. It seems that the beloved is now in the same stage. Perhaps the feelings of love are near completion/fulfilment.

uss ki mahfil8 hi alag9 hai jo teri mahfil meN hai

One who is headed towards the gathering around god is different from those who are headed to other gatherings. The one who is headed towards god has given up all worldly attachments … dust over his head, hand over his heart and only the divine throne in his eyes as his single focus.
