زباں کہہ سکی وہ نہ میرے قلم کی

سناتی ہیں لہریں سمندر کے اُس بے کرانی سفر کی

آزاد خواہش بہادر دلوں کی

پردیس میں دُور اجنبی اِک شہر کی

نئی زندگی اور نئی رہگزر کی

میرے دودماں اہلِ راکھیں شہر  کی

ڈوبتی لاش کی، جان کھونے کے ڈر کی

سناتی ہیں جان افزا ہوائیں

خنک، ٹھنڈی ٹھنڈی سبک رو ہوائیں

میرے چہرے کو پیار سے چومتی

جیسے مخمل کی نرمی

جیسے ماتا کی گودی

مگر وہ جو لاکھوں ستارے فلک پار

وہ ہر ایک ثابت، وہ ہر ایک سیّار

اور پھر اِس زمیں پر

ہر ایک بیجان و ہر ایک جاںدار

حمد کرتے خدا کی کہ پروردگار

دعا مانگتے ہیں اماں کی

میری اور میرے روہنگ دودماں کی

ज़बां कह सकी वो न मेरे क़लम की

सुनाती हैं लहरें समन्दर के उस बेकरानी सफ़र की

आज़ाद ख़्वाहश बहादुर दिलौं की

परदेस में दूर अजनबी एक शहर की

नई ज़ीन्दगी और नई रहगुज़र की

मेरे दुदमां, अहल-ए राखीं शहर की

डूबती लाश की, जान खोने के डर की

कहानी

सुनाती हैं जान-अफ़्ज़ा हवाएं

ख़ुनक ठंडी ठंडी सुबुक रौ हवाएं

मेरे चेहरे को प्यार से चूमती

जैसे मख़्मल की नर्मी

जैसे माता की गोदी

मगर वो जो लाखों सितारे फ़लक पार

वो हर एक साबित, वो हर एक सय्यार

और फिर इस ज़मीं पर

हर एक बेजान ओ हर ए जांदार

हम्द करते ख़ुदा की के परवरदिगार

दुआ मांगते हैं अमां की

मेरी और मेरे रोहंग दूदमां की

sabaq3 vo kahaani ka dene mujhe

Calling aloud from the tops of palm trees,
the wind has a lesson to teach.

zabaaN2 kah saki vo na mere qalam3 ki

But heard a praise from the stars,
which cannot be pulled out from the tip of my pen.

Hoibár asé ekkán kaáni, Goir ókkol óttu,
Zeéñtte aññí neeillí ekgúilla Doijjar sor óttu.
Guzori hoór talgas ór uortú,
Cíkaibár asé ekkán sóbok, Boiyar óttu.
Kintu fúinni ekkán taarif, tara ókkol óttu,
Ziyán neelai nofarír aññí holom or nif ottú.
Goir e hoór, ofúrani kúla sómondor or,
Jahél arde baádur dil or,
Osin koum, osin cóor arde osin mollúk or,
Mockil añár Ruáingar sofór or,
Gaif óiyedé jan ókkol, dhuiffé dé zindigi ókkol ór
Kaáni.
Taakot wala Boiyar,
Añár muk ót bazí bazí baár,
Thándha thándha boróf ór dhóilla,
Norom norom fóoir or dhóilla,
Maa ador or dhóilla.
Kintu lak lak loi
Tara ókkol asman or mujilís ót boói,
Asman ot asé dé háar tara ókkol óre,
Zomin ot asé dé háar insán arde cis ókkol óre
Banaiyé dé Rob or zikír gorér
Nisé asé dé añár lá arde añár Ruáinga ókkol ólla estekfar forér.

English Translation

The waves have a story to narrate,
When I leave the lonely beach.
