ہمارے شہر کی آنکھوں نے منظر اور دیکھا تھا
مگر اخبار کی یہ سرخیاں کچھ اور کہتی ہیں

ہم اہل شہر کی خواہش کہ مل جل کر رہیں لیکن
امیر شہر کی دلچسپیاں کچھ اور کہتی ہیں

زباں کچھ بھی کہے تیری مگر یہ تیرے دامن پر
لہو کے رںگ کی گلکاریاں کچھ اور کہتی ہیں

یہ دل کہتا ہے ہر اک قید سے آزاد ہو جائیں
مگر اے شادؔ ذمّہ دایاں کچھ اور کہتی ہیں

हम अहल-ए-शहर की ख़्वाहिश कि मिल-जुल कर रहें लेकिन
अमीर-ए-शहर की दिलचस्पियाँ कुछ और कहती हैं

ज़बां कुछ भी कहे तेरी मगर ये तेरे दामन पर
लहू के रंग की गुलकारियां कुछ और कहती हैं

ये दिल कहता है हर एक क़ैद से आज़ाद हो जाएं

None of his books have an bio-sketch, listing of his eduction, profession or the story of how he came to urdu. But he was very popular in the international mushaa’era circuit including several times to the US.
