nazr-e faiz-fahmida riaz

This is an occasion when Time itself is in mourning. This stage (in the life of the country) is delicate like the fragrance of rose (because we are losing a spokesperson of the deprived). This instant is the essence of time. It is a time of perpetual union – faiz always pined for union – now he has achieved it, his yearning fulfilled.

O you, who carried the pain of your people on your shoulders, who sacrificed your personal life for them. You, who did not have any pathway, any goal, other than a clear vision for the homeland, other than (to relieve the pain of) their bleeding hearts.

faiz was jailed and banished several times by several regimes. fahmida riaz calls this his wandering, saying that he was the envy of the stars in his wandering (using the rotation of the stars as a metaphor). Now, you will not come and go again, you who have been the envy of the stars. Your enemy has been defeated because you are beyond his reach. This is a moment of timeless perpetuity.
