کوئی  آسان  نہیں  انسان  کا  انساں  ہونا

مئے  پرستی  سے  ملے  کچھ  تو  بشر  کو  راحت

بت  پرستی  تو  ہے  بیکار  پریشاں  ہونا

چھوڑنی  پڑتی  ہے  پروازؔ  ریا  کاری  ہی

کوئی  مشکل  بھی  نہیں  صاحبِ  ایماں  ہونا

कोई आसां नहीं इंसान का इंसां होना

एक मैं हूं मुझे आए न शिका’एत करना

एक वो है उसे आए न पशेमां होना

मै-परस्ती से मिले कुछ तो बशर को राहत

बुत-परस्ती तो है बेकार परेशां होना

छोढनी पढती है परवाज़ रियाकारी ही

कोई मुश्किल भी नहीं साहब-ए ईमां होना

He settled in jalandhar district after 1947. shaagird of rajendra nath rahbar. I could not figure out what he did for a living. He lived in a small village, noor mahal. My guess is that he had lands and engaged in agriculture. This Ghazal, in the style of Ghalib’s ‘mayassar nahiN insaan ko insaaN hona’ is linked to Ghalib naqsh-e qadam.

teri rahmat1 ka hamesha paRe KhwaahaaN2 hona
koi aasaan3 nahiN insaan ka insaaN hona

Just like in Ghalib’s Ghazal, in the second misra here, the word insaan is used in two slightly different meanings. The first one means plain and simple human being while the second one is used to imply higher human qualities – human-ness. We always end up being desirous of your forgiveness (because we keep transgressing). It is not so easy for man to be human (because he keeps transgressing).

DhoonDne se bhi nahiN milta hai deeNdaar1 koi
Ghair-mumkin2 nahiN jannat3 ka biyaabaaN4 hona   
1.honest, virtuous 2.impossible 3.heaven 4.deserted, desolate
Even after careful searching one cannot find an honest/virtuous person. Therefore, it is not impossible that heaven will be deserted i.e., no one will get to go to heaven.

ek maiN huN mujhe aaye na shikaa’et1 karna
ek voh hai usay aaye na pashemaaN2 hona

It is the convention of urdu poetry that the beloved is always cruel to the poet/lover and he never complains, while she never shows any remorse for her actions. Thus, on the one hand, it is I, who does not know how to complain and on the other hand, it is she, who does not know how to be remorseful.

mai-parasti1 say miley kuchh to bashar2 ko raahat3
but-parasti4 to hai bekaar5 pareshaaN6 hona   
1.devotion to wine 2.human 3.comfort 4.devotion to the idol/beloved 5.useless 6.worried, sorrowful
It is a significant convention in poetry to use ‘idol’ as symbolic of the beloved and for the poet/lover to worship her. Worshipping the beloved gets him nothing but sorrow. Thus, he wishes that at least worshipping wine should give him some comfort.
