اِسی سرحد پہ کل ڈوُبا تھا سورج ہو کے دو ٹکڑے

اِسی سرحد  پہ کل زخمی ہوی تھی صبح آزادی

یہ سرحد خون کی اشکوں کی آہوں کی شراروں کی

جہاں بوئی تھی نفرت اور تلواریں اُگائیں تھیں

میں اِس سرحد پہ کب سے منتظر ہوں صبح فردا کا

 

یہاں محبوب آنکھوں کے ستارے تلملائے تھے

یہاں معشوق چہرے آسووں میں جھلملائے  تھے

یہاں بیٹوں سے ماں،  پیاری بہن بھائی سے بچھڑی تھی

یہ سرحد جو لہو  پیتی ہے انگارے اُگلتی ہے

ہماری خاک کے سینے پہ ناگن بن کے چلتی ہے

سجا کے جنگ کے ہتھیار میداں میں نکلتی ہے

 

یہ سرحد پھول کی، خوشبو کی، رنگوں کی،  بہاروں کی

وطن کے عارضوں پہ زُلف کی مانند لہراتی

دھنک کی طرح ہنستی ندیوں کی طرح بل کھاتی

مہکتی جگمگاتی اک دلہن کی مانگ کی صورت

جو بالوں کو دو حصوں میں تو تقسیم کرتی ہے

مگر سندھور کی تلوار سے سندل کی اُنگلی سے

 

یہ سرحد دلبروں کی عاشقوں کی، بیقراروں کی

یہ سرحد دوستوں کی بھائیوں کی غم گساروں کی

سحر کو آئے خورشیدِ درخشاں پاسباں بنکر

نگہبانی ہو شب کو آسماں کے چاند تاروں کی

 

زمیں پامال ہو جائے ہرے کھیتوں کی یورش سے

سپاہیں حملہ آور ہوں درختوں کی قتاروں سے

خدا محفوظ رکھے اِسکو غیروں کی نگاہوں سے

پڑے نا نظر اِس پہ خوں کے تاجر تاجداروں کی

محبت حکمراں ہو، حسن قاتل، دِل مسیحا ہو

چمن پہ آگ برسے، شعلہ پیکر گُلعزاروں کی

 

وہ دِن آئے کے آنسوں ہو کے نفرت دِل سے بہہ جائے

وہ دِن آ ئے یہ سرحد بوسہِ لب بن کے رہ جائے

یہ سرحد منچلوں کی دِل جلوں کی جاں نساروں کی

یہ سرحد سرزمیں کے دِل کے باںکے شہسواروں کی

 

یہ سرحد کج کلاہوں کی، یہ سرحد کج اداوٗں کی

یہ سرحد گلشنِ لاہور و دِلیّ کی ہواوں کی

یہ سرحد امن و آزادی کے دِل افروز خوابوں کی

یہ سرحد ڈوبتے تاروں کی، اُبھرتے آفتابوں کی

یہ سرحد خون میں لتھڑے پیار کے زخمی گلابوں کی

 

میں اِس سرحد پہ کب سے منتظر ہوں صبح فردا کا

इसी सरहद पे कल डूबा था सूरज हो के दो टुकड़े
इसी सरहद पे कल ज़ख़्मी हुई थी सुबह-ए आज़ादी
यह सरहद, ख़ून की, अश्कों की, आहों की, शरारों की
जहाँ बोई थी नफ़रत, और तलवारें उगाईं थीं

मैं इस सरहद पे कब से मुन्तज़िर हूँ सुबह ए फ़रदा का

 

यहाँ महबूब आँखों के सितारे झिलमिलाए थे
यहाँ माशूक़ चेहरे आंसुओं में तिलमिलाए थे
यहाँ बेटों से माँ, प्यारी बहेन भाई से बिछड़ी थी
ये सरहद, जो लहू पीती है, अंगारे उगलती है
हमारी ख़ाक के सीने पे नागिन बन के चलती है
सजा कर जंग के हथियार, मैदां में निकलती है

 

ये सरहद, फूल की, ख़ुशबू की, रंगों की, बहारों की
वतन के आरिज़ौं पे, ज़ुल्फ़ की मानिन्द लहराती
धनक की तरह हंसती, नदियों की तरह बल खाती
महकती, जगमगाती एक दुल्हन की मांग की सूरत
जो बालों को, दो हिस्सों में तो तक़सीम करती है

मगर सिन्दूर की तलवार से, संदल की उंगली से

 

ये सरहद, दिलबरों की, आशिक़ों की, बेक़रारों की
ये सरहद, दोस्तों की, भाइयों की, ग़म गुसारों की
सहर को आए ख़ुर्शीद-ए दरख़शां पासबां बनकर

निगहबानी हो शब को आसमां के चाँद तारों की

 

ज़मीं पामाल हो जाए, हरे खेतों की यूरिश से
सिपाहें हम्ला आवर हों दरख़्तौं की क़तारों की
ख़ुदा महफ़ूज़ रक्खे इस्को ग़ैरों की निगाहों से
पड़े ना, नज़र इस्पे, ख़ूं के ताजिर, ताज दारों की
मुहब्बत हुक्मरां हो, हुस्न क़ातिल, दिल मसीहा हो

चमन पे आग बरसे, शोला पैकर, गुल-अज़ारों की

 

वो दिन आए, के आंसू हो के नफ़रत दिल से बह जाए

वो दिन आए ये सरहद बोसा-ए लब बन के रह जाए
ये सरहद, मनचलों की, दिल जलों की, जां निसारों की

ये सरहद, सरज़मीन-ए दिल के बांके शहसवारों की

 

ये सरहद, कज कुलाहों की, ये सरहद कज अदाओं की
ये सरहद, गुलशन-ए लाहोर ओ  दिल्ली की हवाओं की
ये सरहद, अमन ओ आज़ादी के दिल अफ़रोज़ ख़्वाबों की
ये सरहद, डूबते तारों की, उभरते आफ़ताबों की

ये सरहद, खूं में लिथड़े प्यार के ज़ख़्मी गुलाबों की

yahaaN beTon se maa, pyaari behen bhai se bichhRi thi

hamaari Khaak ke seeney8 pe naagin ban ke chalti hai
sajaa kar juNg ke hathiyaar, maidaN meN nikalti hai

This border where our loved ones writhed in pain, where beautiful faces sparkled, washed in tears, where mothers and daughters separated from sons and brothers. This border that drinks blood and shoots flames, which crawls on the bosom of our earth like a venomous snake. This border decked in weapons, struts out in the field.

watan ke aarizoN1 pe, zulf ki maanind2 lehraati3
dhanak4 ki tarah haNsti, naddiyoN ki tarah bal khaati
mahakti, jagmagaati ik dulhan ki maNg ki surat
jo baaloN ko, do hissauN meN to taqsim5 karti hai
magar sindur ki talwaar se, sandal ki ungli se
