خون اپنا ہو کہ پرایاہو
نسلِ آدم کا خون ہے آخر
جنگ مشرق میں ہو کہ مغرب میں
امنِ عالم کا خون ہے آخر
بم گھروں پہ گریں کہ سرحد پر
روحِ تعمیر زخم کھاتی ہے
کھیت اپنے جلیں کہ اوروں کے
زیست فاقوں سے تلملاتی ہے
ٹنک آگے بڑھیں کہ پیچھے ہٹیں
کوکھ دھرتی کی بانجھ ہوتی ہے
فتح کا جشن ہو کہ ہار کا سوگ
زندگی میّتوں پہ روتی ہے
جنگ تو خود ہی ایک مسلہ ہے
جنگ کیا مسلوں کا حل دیگی
آگ اور خون آج بخشے گی
بھوک اور احتیاج کل دیگی
اِس لئے ائے شریف اِنسانو
جنگ ٹلتی رہے تو بہتر ہے
آپ اور ہم سب ہی کے آنگن میں
شمع جلتی رہے تو بہتر ہے
برتری کے ثبوت کی خاطر
خوں بہانا ہی کیا ضروری ہے
گھر کی تاریکیاں مٹانے کو
گھر جلانا ہی کیا ضروری ہے
جنگ کے اور بھی تو میداں ہیں
صرف میدانِ کشت و خوں ہی نہیں
حاصلِ زندگی خرد بھی ہے
حاصلِ زندگی جنوں ہی نہیں
آوٗ اِس تیرہ بخت دنیا میں
فکر کی روشنی کو عام کریں
امن کو جس سے تقویت پہنچے
ایسی جنگوں کا اہتمام کریں
جنگ وحشت سے بربریت سے
امن تہذیب و اِرتقاؑ کے لئے
جنگ مرگ آ فر یں سیاست سے
امن اِنسان کی بقا کے لئے
جنگ اِفلاس اور غلامی سے
امن بہتر نظام کی خاطر
جنگ بھٹکی ہویٰ قیادت سے
امن بے بس عوام کی خاطر
جنگ سرمایہ کے تسلط سے
امن جمہور کی خوشی کے لئے
جنگ جنگوں کے فلسفہ کے خلاف
امن پرُ امن زندگی کے لئے
अए शरीफ़ इंसानो – साहिर लुधियानवी
ख़ून अपना हो या पराया हो
नस्ल ए आदम का ख़ून है आख़िर
जंग मशरिक़ में हो के मग़रिब में
अमन ए आलम का ख़ून है आख़िर
बम घरों पे गिरें के सरहद पर
रूह ए तामीर ज़ख़्म खाती है
खेत अपने जलें के औरों के
ज़ीस्त फ़ाक़ौं से तिलमिलाती है
टेंक आगे बढ़ें के पीछे हटें
कोख धरती की बाँझ होती है
फ़तह का जश्न हो के हार का सोग
ज़िन्दगी मय्यतों पे रोती है
जंग तो ख़ुद ही एक मसला है
जंग क्या मसलों का हल देगी
आग और ख़ून आज बख़्शेगी
भूक और एह्तिआज कल देगी
इस लिए आए शरीफ़ इंसानों
जंग टलती रहे तो बेहतर है
आप और हम सभी के आँगन में
शमा जलती रहे तो बेहतर है
बरतरी के सुबूत की ख़ातिर
ख़ूं बहाना ही क्या ज़रूरी है
घर की तारीकियाँ मिटाने को
घर जलाना ही क्या ज़रूरी है
जंग के और भी तो मैदां हैं
सिर्फ़ मैदान ए कुश्त ओ ख़ूं ही नहीं
हासिल ए ज़िन्दगी ख़िर्द भी है
हासिल ए ज़िन्दगी सिर्फ़ जुनूं ही नहीं
जंग वहशत से बरबरियत से
अम्न तहज़ीब ओ इर्तेक़ा के लिए
जंग मर्ग आफ़रीं सियासत से
अम्न इंसान की बक़ा के लिए
जंग सरमाये के तस्सलुत से
अम्न, जम्हूर की ख़ुशी के लिए
जंग जंगों के फ़लसफ़े के ख़िलाफ़
अम्न, पुर अम्न ज़िन्दगी के लिए

Blood (spilled) whether ours or theirs, is human blood after all. War waged in the East or in the West, is the death of world peace, after all.

khet apne jaleN ke auroN ke

Whether bombs fall on borders or on cities, the spirit of progress is wounded. Burning our fields or theirs, Life is tortured by starvation.
Tank aage baRheN ke peechhe haTeN

fatah12 ka jashn13 ho ke haar ka sog14

Tanks may roll forward or backward, the womb of the earth still goes barren. Celebration of victory or mourning over defeat, Life still mourns over the dead.

War itself is the problem, how can war solve problems. It will grant fire and blood today, and hunger and famine tomorrow

That is why O, noble souls, it is better if war gets postponed. In the courtyards of homes, yours and ours, it is better if our lamp remains lit.
