پھر اِک تجدیدِ اُلفت کا ترانہ لے کے آیا ہوں

میں کیا آیا ہوں اِک گُزرا زمانہ لے کے آیا ہوں

بہ نامِ خطہِ اِقبال، خاکِ میر و غالب سے

سلامِ شوق و نذرِ دوستانہ لے کے آیا ہوں

قفس دو ہو چکے تعمیر اِک خاکِ نشیمن پر

میں دونوں کے لئے پھر آشیانہ لے کے آیا ہوں

کڑکتی بجلیوں میں  گُم نہ ہونے دو میرے نغمے

برستی بوندیوں کا اِک ترانہ لے کے آیا ہوں

بہ نامِ ساقیِ دوشیں بہ یادِ بزمِ میخانہ

حرم میں دیر سے جامِ شبانہ لے کے آیا ہوں

مرے اوراقِ دِل کو اب نہ یوں برباد ہونے دو

کہ میں اِن میں تمہارا بھی فسانہ لے کے آیا ہوں

مری نذرِ محبّت کو نہ ادنیٰ کہہ کے ٹھکراؤ

سمجھ لو اِک چراغِ آستانہ لے کے آیا ہوں

مٹا لو یوں جو مٹتا ہو مذاقِ ناوک اندازی

اُٹھاؤ تیر میں دل کا نشانہ لے کے آیا ہوں

مجھے ٹھکرا نہ پاؤگے تمہیں اپنا بنا لوں گا

محبّت کی شکستِ فاتحانہ لے کے آیا ہوں

خصومت کیا کدورت تک کہیں اِس میں نہ پاؤ گے

تلاشی دِل کی میں خانہ بہ خانہ لے کے آیا ہوں

ذرا آنکھوں میں آنکھیں ڈال کر دیکھو میری جانب

میں سچ کہتا ہوں یا کوئی بہانہ لے کے آیا ہوں

فقط تھوڑا سا زمزم اِس کے بدلے میں مجھے دے دو

میں گنگا کے دہانہ کا دہانہ لے کے آیا ہوں

फिर एक तज्दीद-ए उलफ़्त का तराना ले के आया हूँ

मैँ क्या आया हूँ एक गुज़्रा ज़माना ले के आया हूँ

बा-नाम-ए ख़त्ता-ए इक़्बाल, ख़ाक-ए मीर ओ ग़ालेब से

सलाम-ए शौक़ ओ नज़्र-ए दोस्ताना ले के आया हूँ

क़फ़स दो हो चुके त’आमीर एक ख़ाक-ए नशेमन पर

मैँ दोनोँ के लिए फिर आशियाना ले के आया हूँ

कड़क्ति बिज्लियोँ में गुम ना होने दो मेरे नग़्मे

बरसती बून्दियौँ का एक तराना ले के आया हूँ

बा-नाम-ए साक़ि-ए दोशीँ, बा-याद-ए बज़्म-ए मैख़ाना

हरम में दैर से जाम-ए शबाना ले के आया हूँ

मेरे औराक़-ए दिल को अब ना युँ बर्बाद होने दो

के मैँ इन मे तुम्हारा भी फ़साना ले के आया हूँ

मेरी नज़्र-ए मोहब्बत को ना अद्ना कह के ठुकराओ

समझ लो एक चिराग़-ए आस्ताना ले के आया हूँ

मिटा लो युँ जो मिट्ता हो मज़ाक़-ए नावक-अंदाज़ी

उठाओ तीर मैँ दिल का निशाना ले के आया हूँ

मुझे ठुकरा ना पाओगे, तुम्हेँ अपना बना लूँ गा

मोहब्बत का शिकस्त-ए फ़ातेहाना ले के आया हूँ

ख़ुसूमत क्या कदूरत तक कहीँ इस में ना पाओगे

तलाशी दिल के मैँ ख़ाना बा ख़ाना ले के आया हूँ

ज़रा आँखौँ में आँखेँ डाल कर देखो मेरी जानिब

मैँ सच कहता हूँ या कोइ बहाना ले के आया हूँ

फ़क़त थोड़ा सा ज़म्ज़म इस के बदले में मुझे दे दो

मैँ गँगा के दहाने का दहाना ले के आया हूँ

फिर एक तज्दीद-ए उलफ़्त का तराना ले के आया हूँ

मैँ क्या आया हूँ एक गुज़्रा ज़माना ले के आया हूँ

qafas5 do ho chuke t’aameer6 ek Khaak7-e nasheman8 par
maiN donoN ke liye phir aashiyaana9 le ke aaya huN

To the land of iqbal from the land of mir and Ghalib I bring greetings of love and an offering of friendship. Two cages have been built out of the earth of the homeland. I bring with me nests/homes for both (India and pakistan).

ba-naam-e saaqi-e doshiiN1, ba-yaad-e bazm2-e maiKhaana

Do not let my songs get lost in the thunderous sound of lightning. I bring the subtle tune of gentle rain. Addressed to the saaqi of days gone by, in remembrance of past gatherings in the tavern, I bring from the temple to the mosque a cup of wine (of love) of last night.

ke maiN in meN tumhaara bhi fasaana3 le ke aaya huN
meri nazr4-e mohabbat ko na adna5 kah ke Thukraao
samajh lo ek chiraaGh-e aastaana6 le ke aaya huN

Do not let the pages of my heart get destroyed. Written on them (along with mine) is your story also. Do not discard my glance of love, thinking of it as lowly/despicable. Consider that I bring a lamp of the homeland (to dispel darkness).

uThaao tiir maiN dil ka nishaana3 le ke aaya huN
mujhe Thukra na paaoge, tumheN apna bana luN ga
mohabbat ka shikast4-e faatehaana5 le ke aaya huN  
1.taste, desire 2.archery 3.target 4.defeat 5.conquering
If your love of archery can be satisfied with this, by all means, pick up an arrow. I bring my heart as a target. You will not be able to discard me, I will fold you in my inner circle. I bring with me the all conquering surrender of love.

Khusoomat1 kya kadoorat2 tak kahiN is meN na paaoge
talaashi dil ki maiN Khaana ba Khaana le ke aaya huN
zara aaNkhoN meN aaNkheN Daal kar dekho meri jaanib3
maiN such kahta huN ya koii bahaana4 le ke aaya huN  
1.enmity, rivalry 2.hatred, dislike 3.towards 4.excuse, deception
Leave aside rivalry, you will not be able to find even a trace of dislike in my heart. I have examined every corner of my heart before coming here. Look directly into my eyes to see if I speak the truth or am deceiving you.
