وطن میں آ  ۔ عرش ملسیانی

نہ فُرات و دَجلہ پہ ناز کر، نہ فریبِ گنگ و جمن میں آ

یہ جہان سب ہے ترا وطن، تو کدھر ہے اپنے وطن میں آ

تو ہے رنگِ نرگس و نسترن، ہے تجھی سے رونقِ انجمن

ترے منتظر ہیں گل و سمن، تو بہار بن کے چمن میں آ

تجھے لاکھ لوگ حسیں کہیں، تجھے لاکھ دُرِ‌ ثمیں کہیں

تری قدر ہوگی فقط یہیں، تو حریمِ دل کے عدن میں آ

جو خیالِ خُلد میں ہو مگن، مے و انگبیں میں ہو جِس کا من

جو وطن میں رہ کے ہو بے وطن، اسے کیا کہوں کہ وطن میں آ

یہ بہارِ باغ یہ محفلیں، تری خلوتوں پہ نثار ہوں

تجھے کام غنچہ و گل سے کیا، تو چمن کو چھوڑ کے بن میں آ

رہ و رسمِ عشق پہ رکھ نظر، ہو جہانِ نو کا پیامبر

نہ تو عہدِ رفتہ کو یاد کر، نہ فریبِ چرخِ کہن میں آ

یہ کُھلا نہ ہم پہ کہ توُ کہاں، مۓ شعر پی کے نکل گیا

تجھے یاد کرتے ہیں عرشؔ سب، کبھی پھر بھی بزمِ سخن میں آ

वतन में आ – अर्श मलसियानी

न फ़ुरात-ओ-दजला पे नाज़ कर न फ़रेब-ए-गंग-ओ-जमन में आ

ये जहान सब है तेरा वतन तू किधर है अपने वतन में आ

तू है रंग-ए-नर्गिस-ओ-नस्तरन है तुझी से रौनक़-ए-अंजुमन

तेरे मुंतज़िर हैं गुल-ओ-समन तू बहार बन के चमन में आ

तुझे लाख लोग हसीं कहें तुझे लाख दुर्र-ए-समीं कहें

तेरी क़द्र होगी फ़क़त यहीं तू हरीम-ए-दिल के अदन में आ

जो ख़याल-ए-ख़ुल्द में हो मगन मै-ओ-अंगबीं में हो जिस का मन

जो वतन में रह के हो बे-वतन उसे क्या कहूँ के वतन में आ

ये बहार-ए-बाग़ ये महफ़िलें तेरी ख़ल्वतों पे निसार हों

तुझे काम ग़ुंचा-ओ-गुल से क्या तू चमन को छोड़ के बन में आ

रह-ओ-रस्म-ए-इश्क़ पे रख नज़र हो जहान-ए-नौ का पयाम्बर

न तो अहद-ए-रफ़्ता को याद कर न फ़रेब-ए-चर्ख़-ए-कुहन में आ

ये खुला न हम पे के तू कहाँ मै-ए-शे’र पी के निकल गया

तुझे याद करते हैं अर्श सब कभी फिर भी बज़्म-ए-सुख़न में आ

His father, labhuram josh malsiyani was also a recognized a poet. They moved to India a little before partition, but the loss of homeland affected them deeply. This Ghazal reflects some of that loss and calls for a wider sense of internationalism and humanism.

ye jahaan5 sab hai tera vatan tu kidhar hai apne vatan meN aa

Do not fall prey to false pride in ancient civilizations. Do not be deceived by the ‘greatness’ of the civilization of the indo-gangetic plain. The whole world is your homeland. Where are you wandering, come back home.

tere muntazir5 haiN gul-o-saman6 tu bahaar7 ban ke chaman meN aa  
1.colour, beauty 2.narcissus and white rose, flowers 3.glory 4.(human) society 5.waiting, anticipating, eager 6.rose and jasmine, flowers 7.spring
You are the beauty of the flowers of nature, the glory of human civilization. Flowers, eager to bloom, await you, come into the garden like spring.

tujhe laakh log hasiN1 kaheN tujhe laakh durr2-e samiN3 kaheN
teri qadr4 hogi faqat5 yahiN tu harim6-e dil ke adan7 meN aa  
1.beatiful 2.pearl 3.valuable 4.value, respect 5.only 6.sanctum, sanctuary 7.garden of Eden, heaven
People may call you beautiful, they may consider you rich (worldly praise and materialist posssssion), but your respect and value is only in the sanctuary of your heart/soul. Come into this heaven.

jo Khayaal-e Khuld1 meN ho magan mai-o-aNgbiN2 meN ho jis kaa man
jo vatan meN rah ke ho be-vatan use kya kahuN ke vatan meN aa  
1.heaven 2.wine and honey
‘Khuld’ is used in the sense of reward. Those who think only of rewards and are enamoured with the thought of wine and honey, they are as if they are homeless in their own home, they don’t recognize/realize it. Possibly vatan/home is used here in the sense of ‘heart/soul’. Those who live forgetful of their “heart/soul”, how can I ask them to come back home.

ye bahaar1-e baaGh, ye mahfileN2 teri KhalvatoN3 pe nisaar4 hoN
tujhe kaam Ghuncha-o-gul5 se kya tu chaman ko chhoR ke ban meN aa 
1.spring 2.parties 3.privacy, seclusion, contemplation 4.sacrificed for, nothing compared to 5.flower and bud
This worldly spring, these parties of pleasure, are nothing compared to seclusion and contemplation (of the spiritual). Leave this worldly garden and come into the wilderness (of the search for Truth and Love, for that is what a sufi mendicant is supposed to do).

1.ways and traditions 2.(divine/universal) love 3.eye, sight 4.new world order 5.messenger 6.past times 7.illusion, delusion 8.ancient sky/heaven, outmoded ideas of heaven
Keep your eye on the traditions and ways of universal (sufiyaana) love. Be a messenger of a new world order (of love, peace and harmony). Do not harp on the glory of ancient times. Do not be deluded by obsolete ideas and temptations/rewards of heaven.

ye khulaa1 na ham pe ke tu kahaaN mai-e-sher2 pii ke nikal gayaa
tujhe yaad karte haiN arsh sab kabhi phir bhi bazm-e-suKhan3 meN aa

We do not know where you have gone, after drinking the wine of verse. Everyone remembers/misses you O,arsh, come back again to the gathering of poets. Perhaps disillusioned by communal discord, the poet has withdrawn and everyone misses him and calls him back.
