یومِ مئی ۔ حبیب جالب
صدا آ رہی ہے مرے دل سے پیہم
کہ ہوگا ہر اک دشمنِ جاں کا سر خم
نہیں ہے نظامِ ہلاکت میں کچھ دم
ضرورت ہے انسان کی امنِ عالم
فضاؤں میں لہرائے گا سرخ پرچم
صدا آ رہی ہے مرے دل سے پیہم
نہ ذِلّت کے سائے میں بچّے پلیں گے
نہ ہاتھ اپنے قسمت کے ہاتھوں ملیں گے
مساوات کے دیپ گھر گھر جلیں گے
سب اہلِ وطن سر اُٹھا کے چلیں گے
نہ ہوگی کبھی زندگی وقفِ ماتم
فضاؤں میں لہرائے گا سرخ پرچم
यौम-ए मई – हबीब जालिब
सदा आ रही है मेरे दिल से पैहम
कि होगा हर इक दुश्मन-ए जाँ का सर ख़म
नहीं है निज़ाम-ए-हलाकत में कुछ दम
ज़रूरत है इंसान की अम्न-ए-आलम
फ़ज़ाओं में लहराएगा सुर्ख़ परचम
सदा आ रही है मेरे दिल से पैहम
न ज़िल्लत के साए में बच्चे पलेंगे
न हाथ अपने क़िस्मत के हाथों मलेंगे
मुसावात के दीप घर घर जलेंगे
सब अहल-ए-वतन सर उठा के चलेंगे
न होगी कभी ज़िंदगी वक़्फ़-ए मातम
फ़ज़ाओं में लहराएगा सुर्ख़ परचम

My heart cries again and again, the red flag (of workers) will flutter in the air.
na zillat1 ke saa’e meN bachche paleNge
na haath apne qismat ke haathoN maleNge 1.indignity
We will not raise our children in the shadow of indignity. We will not helplessly rub our hands to accept “fate”.
musaavaat1 ke diip ghar ghar jaleNge
sab ahl-e-vatan2 sar uThaa ke chaleNge 1.equality 2.people of the homeland
The lamp of equality will be lit in every household. All people of the homeland will hold their heads high.
na hogi kabhi zindagi vaqf-e-maatam1
fazaaoN meN lahraa’egaa surKh2 parcham3 1.engrossed/absorbed in lamentation 2.red 3.flag
Life will never again be taken over by lamentation. The red flag (of workers) will flutter across the skies.
