ye kaun aata hai-maKhdoom

abida parveen singing maKhdoom tarannum

‘maseeha nafas’ is derived from ‘maseeh’ – Jesus. A commonly known story about Jesus is that he could cure the sick by blowing on them. One of the meanings of ‘nafas’ is ‘breath’. Thus ‘maseeha nafas’ is the breath/blowing that cures. In this case maKhdoom assigns that quality to the beloved – the lover is sick with love and the beloved has the ability to make him well! The fragrance of the morning breeze awakens me, murmuring her name, as it blows, curing me of my sickness.
