ضیا فروش ہوئی تیری شمع مہر و وفا

چراغِ جور و تشدّد بڑھا دیا تو نے

ترے پیام میں تھا کیا حیات بخش اثر

جمُود خُوردہ دلوں کو جِلا دیا تُو نے

وطن میں اہلِ تعصُب کی دال گَل نہ سکی

وہ سکّہ صِدق و صفا کا چلا دیا تُو نے

مُخالفوں کے لئے بھی دعائے رحمت کی

کوئی یہ دیکھے تو کیا لے کے کیا دیا تُو نے

گلے سے تو نے لگایا ہر ایک دشمن کو

عمل سے پیار کا جادو جگا دیا تو نے

ترے قلم سے گہر تو زباں سے پھول جھڑے

ایک ایک لفظ نگینہ بنا دیا تو نے

حسد سے، کینے سے، نفرت سے، تجھ کو نفرت تھی

غرض یہ، امن سے، اُلفت سے، تجھ کو اُلفت تھی

زمانہ آج ترا احترام کرتا ہے

جھکا کے سر تجھے ہر دل سلام کرتا ہے

वतन में अहल-ए त’अस्सुब की दाल गल न सकी

वो सिक्का सिद्क़ ओ सफ़ा का चला दिया तू ने

मुख़ालफ़ौं के लिये भी दुआ-ए रहमत की

कोई ये देखे तो क्या ले के क्या दिया तू ने

गले से तू ने लगाया हर एक दुश्मन को

अमल से प्यार का जादू जगा दिया तू ने

तेरे क़लम से गोहर तो ज़बां से फूल झढे

एक एक लफ़्ज़ नगीना बना दिया तू ने

हसद से, कीने से, नफ़्रत से, तुझ को नफ़्रत थी

ग़रज़ ये, अम्न से, उल्फ़त से, तुझ को उल्फ़त थी

ज़माना आज तेरा एहतेराम करता है

झुका के सर तुझे हर दिल सलाम करता है

I am a little uncomfortable with the use of ‘charaaGh-e jaur’ because usually ‘charaaGh’ is associated with good things. Also, baRha diya can literally mean increase but I am interpreting it to mean move away/dismiss. Thus, your candle of love and truth provided light and dismissed the lamp of cruelty/injustice and oppression.

Bigoted way could not get their way in the homeland. Such was the currency of truth and purity that you caused to prevail.
