اِک قیامت کی تڑپ اپنے دلِ بسمل میں ہے

ہو گیا شاید کسی کے تیرِ مژگاں کا شکار
آج کچھ اندازِ بسمل اضطرابِ دل میں ہے

ہے یہی فریاد اوچھا ہاتھ قاتل کا پڑا
شکوۂ جلّاد کیا کیا نالۂ بسمل میں ہے

اُٹھ گیا خوفِ قیامت مٹ گیا محشر کا ڈر
جیسے تیرے قامتِ موزوں کا نقشہ دل میں ہے

بزمِ جاناں میں دلِ سوزاں کی حالت کیا کہوں
شمع ساں جلتا رہا یہ رات بھر محفل میں ہے

بار اُلفت کا اُٹھانا ہر گھڑی آساں نہیں
دل کو کیا رووں کہ میری جان اب مشکل میں ہے

ترک کر دوں کس طرح سے شغلِ نعتِ مصطفےٰ
یہ تو اے عثمان ازل سے میرے آب و گِل میں ہے

उठ गया ख़ौफ़-ए क़यामत मिट गया महशर का डर
जैसे तेरे क़ामत-ए मौज़ूं का नक़्शा दिल में है

बज़्म-ए जानां में दिल-ए सोज़ां कि हालत क्या कहूं
शम’अ-सां जलता रहा ये रात भर महफ़िल में है

बार उल्फ़त का उठाना हर घढी आसां नहीं
दिल को क्या रोऊं के मेरी जान अब मुश्किल में है

तर्क कर दूं किस तरह से शोग़्ल-ए ना’त-ए मुस्तफ़ा

His diivaan was collected and published posthumously in eight fair sized volumes. This is one of several Ghazal that he composed in the style of Ghalib. When the throat of an animal is slit and it bleeds to death, it thrashes about in a tumultous ‘dance of death’. Such is the condition of the lover’s heart. All of this is happening in the street of the beloved, where it presents a spectacle of lightning flashes.

Usually the bird-catcher is portrayed as an outside villain. But here it sounds like the ‘jallaad’ is the bird-catcher and the beloved and the bulbul is the lover. The beloved has slaughtered the lover but the cut is awkward, not quite killing him. His lamentation is all about complaining of the beloved’s awkward cut.
