اک  عشق  ہے  کہ  جس  کی  گلی  جا  رہا  ہوں  میں

اور  دل  کی  دھڑکنوں  سے  بھی  گھبرا  رہا  ہوں  میں

کر  دے  گا  وہ  معاف  مرے  ہر  گناہ  کو

یہ  سوچ  کر  گناہ  کئے  جا  رہا  ہوں  میں

چھوڑا  کہیں  کا  مجھ  کو  نہ  دنیا  کے  درد  نے

پھر  بھی  ترا  کرم  کہ  جئے  جا  رہا  ہوں  میں

راہ  وفا  میں  مٹ  گئے  جب  فاصلے  سبھی

پھر  کیوں  نگاہ  یار  سے  شرما  رہا  ہوں  میں

پھر  ہو  رہی  ہیں  پیار  کی  سب  حسرتیں  جواں

پھر  دل  اسی  کی  یاد  سے  بہلا  رہا  ہوں  میں

اک  دن  چکا  ہی  دوں  گا  زمانے  کا  بھی  حساب

کچھ  بات  ہے  جو  ضبط  کئے  جا  رہا  ہوں  میں

اُلفت  کی  راہ  پر  تجھے  مل  جائے  گا  خدا

اس  بے  قرار  دل  کو  یہ  سمجھا  رہا  ہوں  میں

وہ  شوخ  اک  نگاہ  میں  سب  صاف  کہہ  گیا

مُدّت  سے  جس  کو  کہنے  سے  کترا  رہا  ہوں  میں

عازمؔ  یقیں  نہیں  اسے  کیوں  میری  بات  پر

کیا  کم  ہے  یہ  کہ  اُس  کی  قسم  کھا  رہا  ہوں  میں

एक इश्क़ है के जिस की गली जा रहा हूँ मैं

और दिल की धढकनों से भी घबरा रहा हूँ मैं

कर देगा वो मुआफ़ मेरे हर गुनाह को

ये सोच कर गुनाह किये जा रहा हूँ मैं

छोढा कहीं का मुझ को न दुनिया के दर्द ने

फिर भी तेरा करम के जिये जा रहा हूँ मैं

राह-ए वफ़ा में मिट गए जब फ़ासले सभी

फिर क्यूँ निगाह-ए यार से शर्मा रहा हूँ मैं

फिर हो रही हैं प्यार की सब हसरतें जवाँ

फिर दिल उसी की याद से बहला रहा हूँ मैं

एक दिन चुका ही दूँगा ज़माने का भी हिसाब

कुछ बात है जो ज़ब्त किये जा रहा हूँ मैं

उल्फ़त की राह पर तुझे मिल जाएगा ख़ुदा

इस बे-क़रार दिल को ये समझा रहा हूँ मैं

वो शूख़ एक निगाह में सब साफ़ कह गया

मुद्दत से जिस को कहने से कतरा रहा हूँ मैं

आज़िम यक़ीं नहीं उसे क्यूँ मेरी बात पर

क्या कम है ये के उस की क़सम खा रहा हूँ मैं

aur dil ki dhaRkanoN se bhi ghabra raha huN maiN  
I keep going to that special lane of love. And I keep getting scared of the sound of my own heartbeat.

ye soch kar gunaah kiye jaa raha huN maiN

When all distance (between us) in the path of true love has been erased, then why am I still shy of looking the beloved in the eye.

phir dil usi ki yaad se bahla3 raha huN maiN

Once again, unfulfilled desires of love are getting stronger. Once again, I console my heart with memories of her.

ek din chuka1 hi duuNga zamaane ka bhi hisaab1
kuchh baat hai jo zabt2 kiye jaa raha huN maiN   
1.hisaab chuka dena is an expression meaning – pay back all debt or get even 2.tolerate, bear
Some day I will get even with the world/fate. But there is some reason that I keep patiently tolerating the doings of the world now.

ulfat1 ki raah2 par tujhe mil jaa’ega Khuda
is be-qaraar3 dil ko ye samjha raha huN maiN

You will find god on the path of love, I keep trying to get my impatient heart to understand.

muddat4 se jis ko kahne se katra5 raha huN maiN

That mischievous beloved clearly said it all in a single glance – that which I could not bring myself to say for ages. What it is that he wanted to say and she said it, remains for us to guess. We can fill in the blanks according to our own fancy.

kya kam hai ye keh us ki qasam3 kha raha huN maiN

To swear by someone (especially someone you love dearly) means that what you are saying is true or you will do what you say you will do or harm will come to that person. Since you are supposed to love them dearly, you don’t want any harm to come to them, then your statement or your promise become credible. Thus, O aazim, why does she not believe what I say. Is it not enough that I swear by her name. Does she not believe that I love her. Of course, the second misra does not necessarily mean swearing by her … he could be swearing by god. That might make his word less credible.
