زیست  کی  تلخیوں  سے  گھبرا  کر

اپنا  دامنِ  عجز  پھیلا  کر

آسماں  کی  طرف  نگاہ    کیۓ

اپنے  ربّ  کریم  کے  در  سے

موت  کی  بھیک  مانگنے  والے

دیکھ  اس  زر  نگار  مسجد  کو

آبِ  زرّیں  کی  جھلملاہٹ  سے

جس  کے  مینار  جگمگاتے  ہیں

تیرے  ربّ  کریم  کا  گھر  ہے

اور  اس  خانہ  مقدّس  میں

مۓ  کوثر  کے  خمْ  لنڈھاے  ہوے

شوخ  غِلماں  لگاۓ  سینے  سے

ملک  الموت  نیم  خوابیدہ

یادِ  ربّ  کریم  میں  گم  ہیں

چھوڑ  انداز  یہ  دعاوں    کا

تا  بہ  کے  آسرا  خداوں  کا

ہاں  فقط  ایک  نارۂ  وحشت

بڑھ  فقط  اک  قدم  بغاوت    کا

یا  تو  یہ  خیر  و  شر  کے  رکھوالے

موت  کی  بھیک  تجھ  کو  دے  دینگے

یا  پھر  انکے  مہیب  پنجوں  سے

چھین  کر  اپنی  زندگی  پا  لے

موت  کی  بھیک  مانگنے  والے

ज़ीस्त की तल्ख़ीयौं से घबरा कर

अपना दामन-ए इज्ज़ फैला कर

आसमां की तरफ़ निगाह किए

अपने रब्ब-ए करीम के दर से

मौत की भीक मांगने वाले

देख इस ज़र निगार मस्जिद को

आब-ए ज़र्रीं की झिलमिलाहट से

जिस के मीनार जगमगाते हैं

तेरे रब्ब-ए करीम का घर है

और इस ख़ाना-ए मुक़द्दस में

मय-ए कौसर के ख़ुम लुंढाए हुए

शूख़ ग़िलमां लगाए सीने से

मलक-उल-मौत नीम ख़्वाबीदा

याद-ए रब्ब-ए करीम में गुम हैं

छोढ अंदाज़ ये दुआऔं का

ताबा कै आस्रा ख़ुदाऔ का

हां फ़क़त एक नारा-ए वहशत

बढ़ फ़क़त एक क़दम बग़ावत का

या तो ये ख़ैर-ओ-शर के रखवाले

मौत की भीक तुझ को दे देंगे

या फिर इनके मोहीब पंजौं से

छीन कर अपनी ज़िंदगी पा ले

मौत की भीक मांगने वाले

jis ke minaar jagmagaate haiN
tere rabb-e-karim3 ka ghar hai

… look at this grand masjid, shining in the glitter of gold, whose minarets sparkle. This is the house of your benevolent lord.

shooKh6 GhilmaaN7 lagaae seene se
malak-ul-maut8 neem9 Khwaabeeda10
yaad-e-rabb-e-karim11 meN gum12 haiN

And in this blessed house of spirtuality, overflowing with heavenly wine, with heavenly attendants on hand, the owners of life and death, restful and relaxed are busy praying to their lord.

Give up this way of begging. How long this dependence on/hope for benevolence. Yes, but one call to strike terror, one step forward towards rebellion.

maut ki bheek tujh ko de deNge
ya phir inke moheeb4 panjauN5 se
chheen kar apni zindagi paa le
maut ki bheek maaNgne vaale

If you take this step, either these lords of reward and punishment will grant you your wish of death, or from their formidable grip you will be able to wrest back your life. You, who keep begging for Death.
