پیچ و خم ایسا کہاں سنبل میں ہے

‘sunbul’ is a fragrant grass that is often used as a metaphor for the beloved’s hair. But here the poet says the curls of the beloved have such devastating beauty that such ringlets can never be seen in ‘sunbul’.

In urdu poetic tradition rose and bulbul are considered lover and beloved. Look at the effect of (true) love o gardener, the fragrance of the rose can be seen in the song of the bulbul.

kuchh ajab3 taaseer4 shor o Ghul meN hai 1.sigh 2.torn asunder, rent 3.strange, unusual 4.effect
The widely understood picture is that the bulbul has been captured and caged. It is singing a sad song. Hearing this the bosom of the rose is torn asunder (which is poetic/pathos filled interpretation of the bud opening up and blooming, or perhaps of the petals shedding). There is an unusual effect in the sound and cry of love.

sheesha kahta hai ye jhuk kar jaam1 se
kya sada2 masti bhari qulqul3 meN hai 1.cup, goblet of wine 2.sound 3.gurgling
The pictorialization of love and sound continues. This time the bottle and the cup of wine can be thought of as lover and beloved. As wine is poured there is a gurgling sound. This is the bottle bowing down (turned to pour) and singing an intoxicated song of love to the cup.
