چراغِ طور ۔ ڈیوِڈ اثر بریلوی

خدا کو جب سے دیکھا ہے کسی کے رُوئے انور میں
چراغِ طور روشن ہو گیا ہے دل کے مندر میں
۲
یہ کس کی نکہتِ گیسو بسی ہے مُشک و عنبر میں
یہ کس کے حسن کا پرتو عیاں ہے لعل و گوہر میں
۳
یہ کس کے دم سے رعنائی ملی ہے غنچہ و گل کو
یہ کس کی روشنی کا ہے تماشا ماہ و اختر میں
۴
نہیں معلوم اُس کے ہاتھ میں کیسا اثر ہوگا
ملی ہے زندگی مُردوں کو یارب جس کی ٹھوکر میں

یہ حسرت ہے اثرؔ کی تو مِٹا دے دستِ رحمت سے
خطائیں اُس کی جو لکھی ہوئی ہیں تیرے دفتر میں

ये किस के हुस्न का परतौ अयां है लाल ओ गौहर में

ये किस के दम से रानाई मिली है ग़ुंचा ओ गुल को
ये किस की रौशनी का है तमाशा माह ओ अख़्तर में

नहिं मालूम उस के हाथ में कैसा असर होगा
मिली है ज़िंदगी मुर्दों को यारब जिस की ठोकर में

ये हस्रत है असर की तू मिटा दे दस्त-ए रहमत से
ख़ता’एं उस की जो लिक्खी हुई हैं तेरे दफ़्तर में

Khuda ko jab se dekha hai kisi ke roo1-e anvar2 meN
chiraaGh-e toor3 raushan ho gaya hai dil ke mandir meN 1.face 2.shining, glowing 3.lamp on Mt. toor
A pre-Biblical story/belief is that moosa went on Mt. toor asking to see god. There he saw a flash of lightning. This is used metaphorically as “divine light/lamp”. Thus, the poet/devotee has seen this divine glow in the face of “someone” i.e. Jesus. Ever since a divine light shines in the temple of his heart.

ye kis ki nik’hat1-e gesu2 basi hai mushk o ambar meN
ye kis ke husn ka partu3 ayaaN4 hai l’aal5 o gauhar6 meN 1.fragrance 2.hair 3.reflection 4.apparent, manifest 5.ruby 6.pearl
All beauty of nature is but a reflection of the glory/beauty of god. Thus the fragrance of musk and amber is nothing but the fragrance of his hair and the beauty/shine of rubies and pearls are a reflection of his glory.

ye kis ki raushni ka hai tamaasha3 maah4 o aKhtar5 meN 1.grace, beauty 2.unopened flower buds 3.display 4.moon 5.stars
It is god’s grace and beauty that is present in flowers and buds. It is his light that is displayed in the moon and stars.

nahiN m’aaloom us ke haath meN kaisa asar1 hoga
mili hai zindagi murdoN ko yaarab jis ki Thokar2 meN 1.effect 2.toe
Who knows what power/effect his hands might have, after all he gave life to the dead with the motion of his toe.

Khataa’eN5 us ki jo lik’khi hui haiN tere daftar6 meN 1.longing, desire 2.pen-name of the poet 3.hand 4.benvolence 5.transgressions, sins 6.book
Somewhere there is a book in which the virtues and vices/sins of everyone are written down. The poet/devotee prays that with his benevolent hand god(or Jesus) may erase his transgressions.
