مُلّا سے جسے شوقِ مُلاقات ہو سُن لے

کس وقت کہاں اور کس عُنواں میں ملے گا

۲

ہر صبح کو دفتر میں وہ قانون کا مزدور

مِثلوں میں دبا حالِ پریشاں میں ملے گا

۳

دِن کو رگِ باطل کا وہ نشتر زنِ کامِل

ہنگامہ فگن عدل کے ایواں میں ملے گا

۴

اور شام کو فردوس کے باغی کا وہ دِلبند

پیمانہ بہ کف محفلِ یاراں میں ملے گا

۵

اور رات کو وہ خسروِ اِقلیمِ معانی

گل ریز و گہربار شبِستاں میں ملے گا

۶

اور پچھلے پہر وہ، کوئی سُنتا تو نہیں ہے

خلوت گہ آغوشِ حسیناں میں ملے گا

۷

جس روز نظر آئے نہ وہ اپنی جگہ پر

اُس روز تجھے شہرِ خموشاں میں ملے گا

۸

تاریخ کے صفحات میں زاں بعد اُسے ڈھونڈو

وہ تذکرۂ خاصۂ خاصاں میں ملے گا

۹

اور بعدِ قیامت جو گزر تیرا وہاں ہو

حوروں کو لیے روضۂ رِضواں میں ملے گا

मुल्ला से जिसे शौक़-ए मुलाक़ात हो सुन ले

किस वक़्त कहां और किस उन्वां में मिले गा

हर सुबह को दफ़्तर में वो क़ानून का मज़्दूर

मिस्लौं में दबा हाल-ए परेशां में मिले गा

दिन को रग-ए बातिल का वो नश्तर-ज़न-ए कामिल

हंगामा-फ़िगन अद्ल के ऐवां में मिले गा

और शाम को फ़िर्दौस के बाग़ी का वो दिलबंद

पैमाना बा-कफ़ महफ़िल-ए यारां में मिले गा

और रात को वो ख़ुस्रव-ए इक़्लीम-ए मु’आनी

गुल-रेज़ ओ गोहर-बार शबिस्तां में मिले गा

और पिछ्ले पहर वो, कोई सुनता तो नहीं है

ख़ल्वत गह-ए आग़ोश-ए हसीनाँ में मिले गा

जिस रोज़ नज़र आए ना वो अपनी जगह पर

उस रोज़ तुझे शहर-ए ख़मोशाँ में मिले गा

तारीख़ के सफ़्हात में ज़ाँ-बाद उसे ढूँडो

वो तज़्करा-ए ख़ासा-ए ख़ासाँ में मिले गा

और बाद-ए क़यामत जो गुज़र तेरा वहाँ हो

हूरोँ को लिए रौज़ा-ए रिज़्वाँ में मिले गा

haNgaama-figan4 adl5 ke aivaaN6 meN mile ga

During the day, that embodiment of a knife wielding champion of justice, aiming for the jugular of Evil, can be found in the halls of Justice.

paimaana4 ba-kaf5 mahfil-e-yaaraaN6 meN mile ga   
1.paradise 2.rebel 3.beloved 4.cup, goblet (of wine) 5.in hand 6.gathering of friends
‘firdaus ka baaGi’ – rebel of paradise, is Adam who disobeyed and was banished. Thus, “dilband – dil ka TukRa”, the beloved of Adam, is the chosen among all his children. Thus does, mulla characterize himself. And in the evening, that chosen among humanity can be found, goblet in hand, in the company of friends.

aur raat ko vo Khusrav1-e iqleem2-e mu’aani3
gul-rez4 o gohar-baar5 shabistaaN6 meN mile ga    
1.Khusro – used to mean king/emperor 2.domain 3.meaning, knowledge 4.flower scattering 5.pearl raining 6.sanctuary for the night, bedroom? or retreat?
And at night that king of the domain of wisdom can be found in his retreat, scattering flowers and raining pearls (writing poetic verse).

aur pichhle-pahar1 vo, koi sunta to nahiN hai
Khalvat-gah2-e aaGhosh3-e haseenaaN4 meN mile ga   
1.late at night 2.seclusion, privacy 3.embrace 4.beauties, beloved
And late at night (shush, is anybody listening), he can be found in privacy, in the embrace of the beloved.

us roz tujhe shahr-e-KhamoshaaN1 meN mile ga   
1.city of the silent, graveyard
If you do not find him in his usual place, he would be dead.
