The world admired our lightning pace (I put this down to poetic exaggeration). Our caravan moved towards freedom at a fast clip. Now we have to learn from the tavern of progress, the throbbing of the vein of desire and the style of passing around the cup of wine i.e. we have to learn how share the fruits of freedom fairly.

No nation can get to its desired destination, which does not control the bridle of the horse of politics. We should avoid every faulty undertaking that is likely to put us to shame.

The objective of unity and harmony should always be before us. The desire to do what is needed should always find room in our hearts. The period/reign of freedom might appear like a luxury, but it is a luxury that is permitted/allowed. To be restricted in enjoying is not correct … I am really not sure what he is trying to say here. Any ideas that you have are welcome.

By all means, enjoy and celebrate but along with it, there should be a sense of responsibility to cater to the needs of the grief stricken. Included in the traditions of celebration (wine drinking) should be a respect for the saaqi (??god??). By all means, let us get drunk with the pleasure of freedom, but alongside it there should be awareness (of those who are missing out). Here again I am unsure of my interpretation.

Let us drink some (wine of celebration of freedom) and save some for the thirsty. That (saving for others) is ‘purkaari’ – completion of the task. So we need both, simplicity (celebrate now) and purkaari. To celebrate the present is commendable but, for the sake of the future a passion for awareness (of the condition of the thirsty) is also needed.

A gentle saunter through the garden for a pleasurable walk is fine, but there should also be a fast past on the path of action. At this time of celebration there are so many who have been trampled by sorrow/need. It will be a great pleasure if their sorrow is relieved.
