خوں خواروں کے دسترخوان پہ میرا لاشہ

لذّتِ کام و دہن کے لیے تھا

नौहा-ए मादर-ए वतन – हिमायत अली शाएर

मेरे बदन पर बैठे हुए गिध

मेरे गोश्त की बोटी बोटी नोच रहे हैं

मेरी आँखें मेरे हसीं ख़्वाबों के नशेमन

मेरी ज़बाँ मोती जैसे अल्फ़ाज़ का दर्पन

मेरे बाज़ू ख़्वाबों की ताबीर के ज़ामिन

मेरा दिल जिस में हर ना-मुम्किन भी मुमकिन

मेरी रूह ये सारा मंज़र देख रही है

सोच रही है

क्या ये सारा खेल-तमाशा

ख़ूँ-ख़्वारों के दस्तर-ख़्वान पे मेरा लाशा

लज़्ज़त-ए-काम-ओ-दहन के लिए था

Contemporary of habib jalib. Both wrote with much feeling about people’s issues. This short nazm may not specifically be about independence but it sure sounds like a description of governments that came with it.
