پر  تولیں  ہیں  ۔  رگھوپتی  سہائے  فراقؔ  گورکھپوری

نورس  غنچے  پنکھڑیوں  کی  نازک  گِرہیں  کھولیں  ہیں

یا  اُڑ  جانے  کو  رنگ  و  بو  گلشن  میں  پر  تولیں  ہیں

۲

تارے  آنکھیں  جھپکاویں  ہیں  ذرّہ  ذرّہ  سوئے  ہے

تم  بھی  سنو  ہو  یارو  شب  میں  سنّاٹے  کچھ  بولیں  ہیں

۳

ہم  ہوں  یا  قسمت  ہو  ہماری  دونوں  کو  اک  ہی  کام  ملا

قسمت  ہم  کو  رو  لیوے  ہے  ہم  قسمت  کو  رو  لیں  ہیں

جو  ہم  کو  بد  نام  کریں  ہیں،  وے  کاش  اِتنا  سوچ  سکیں

میرا  پردا  کھولیں  ہیں  یا  اپنا  پردہ  کھولیں  ہیں

یہ  قیمت  بھی  ادا  کریں  ہیں  ہم  بہ  درستیِ  ہوش  و  حواس

تیرا  سودا  کرنے  والے  دیوانے  بھی  ہو  لیں  ہیں

تیرے  غم  کا  پاسِ  ادب  ہے،  کچھ  دُنیا  کا  خیال  بھی  ہے

سب  سے  چھپا  کے  درد  کے  مارے  چپکے  چپکے  رو  لیں  ہیں

فطرت  کا  قائم  ہے  توازن  عالمِ  حسن  و  عشق  میں  بھی

اُس  کو  اُتنا  ہی  پاوے  ہیں  خود  کو  جتنا  کھو  لیں  ہیں

آب  و  تابِ  اشعار  نہ  پوچھو،  تم  بھی  آنکھیں  رکھو  ہو

یہ  جگ  مگ  بتیوں  کی  دمک  ہے  یا  ہم  موتی  رولیں  ہیں

ایسے  میں  تُو  یاد  آئے  ہے  انجمنِ  مے  میں  رِندوں  کو

رات  گئے  گردوں  پہ  فرشتے  بابِ  گنہ  جب  کھولیں  ہیں

صدقے  فراقؔ  اعجازِ  سخن  کے  کیسے  اُڑا  لی  یہ  آواز

اِن  غزلوں  کے  پردوں  میں  تو  میر  کی  غزلیں  بولیں  ہیں

पर तोले हैं – रघुपती सहाए फ़िराक़ गोरखपूरी

नौरस ग़ुंचे पंखड़ियौं कि नाज़ुक गिरहें खोले हैं

या उड़ जाने को रंग ओ बू गुल्शन में पर तोलें हैं

तारे आंखें झपकावे हैं ज़र्रा ज़र्रा सोए है

तुम भी सुनो हो यारो शब में सन्नाटे कुछ बोलें हैं

हम हों या क़िस्मत हो हमारी दोनों को एक ही काम मिला

क़िस्मत हम को रो लेवे है हम क़िस्मत को रो लें हैं

जो हम को बदनाम करे हैं, वे काश इतना सोच सकें

मेरा पर्दा खोलें हैं या अपना पर्दा खोले हैं

ये क़ीमत भी अदा करे हैं हम ब दुरुस्ती-ए होश ओ हवास

तेरा सौदा करने वाले दीवाना भी हो लें हैं

तेरे ग़म का पास-ए अदब है, कुछ दुनिया का ख़याल भि है

सब से छुपा कर दर्द के मारे चुपके चुपके रो लें हैं

फ़ित्रत का क़ाएम है तवाज़ुन, आलम-ए हुस्न ओ इश्क़ में भी

उस को उतना हि पावे हैं, ख़ुद को जितना खो लें हैं

आब ओ ताब-ए अशआर न पूछो, तुम भी आंखें रक्खो हो

ये जग मग बतियौं कि दमक है या हम मोती रो लें हैं

ऐसे में तू याद आए है, अंजुमन-ए मै में रिंदौं को

रात गए गर्दूं पे फ़रिश्ते बाब-ए गुनह जब खोलें हैं

ya uR jaane ko raNg o buu, gulshan meN par toleN5 haiN   
1.newborn 2.buds 3.delicate 4.knots 5.getting wings ready for flight
New buds are unfurling their delicate petals to blossom into flowers. Is it that, or is it that colour and fragrance are getting ready to fly away! A beautiful reminder that decay is hard on the heels of blossoming.

tum bhi suno ho yaaro shab meN sannaaTe1 kuchh boleN haiN 
1.silence, stillness
The stillness of the night is saying something, listen carefully. Listening to whatever the stillness is saying stars are stars are fluttering their eyelids and every grain of sand is asleep. It must be something mysterious that the silence is saying. The poet leaves it to us to guess.

hum hoN ya qismat ho hamaari, donoN ko ek hi kaam mila
qismat hum ko ro leve hai, hum qismat ko ro leN haiN  
My fate and I do the same thing. I cry/complain about my fate and Fate cries/weeps at what is happening to me.

jo hum ko badnaam kareN haiN, ve kaash1 itna soch sakeN
mera parda kholeN haiN ya apna parda kholeN haiN

I wish that those who malign me think through this … is it my deeds they are exposing or are they exposing their own character.

tera sauda5 karne vaale diivaana bhi ho leN haiN

Those who trade in your love (fall in love with you) do so fully aware of the price they have to pay. They (knowingly/willingly) go stark raving mad with passion.

sub se chhupa kar dard ke maare chupke chupke ro leN haiN

us ko utna hi paave haiN, Khud ko jitna kho leN haiN

Nature maintains its balanced law even in the world of beloved and lover. As much you lose yourself, so much do you get the beloved. In a sufiyaana sense, the beloved could be god.

aab o taab1-e ash’aar2 na poochho, tum bhi aaNkheN rakkho ho
ye jagmag batiyoN3 ki damak hai, ya hum moti ro leN haiN

aise meN tu yaad aaye hai, anjuman1-e mai2 meN rindoN3 ko
raat gaye garduN4 pe farishte baab5-e gunah jab kholeN haiN

It is said that sometimes from heaven, angels get to play mischief and they open the door to sin (allowing revelers of the tavern to enjoy themselves). It is then that the wine-drinkers of the tavern keenly miss/remember the saqi/beloved.

Hiding behind the curtain/mask of these Ghazal, the poet/firaq is writing Ghazal like mir taqi mir. He is happy with it, and pays tribute to the miracle of versification.
