اب اکثر چُپ چُپ سے رہیں ہیں یونہی کبھو لب کھولیں ہیں

پہلے فراقؔ کو دیکھا ہوتا اب تو بہت کم بولیں ہیں

دن میں ہم کو دیکھنے والو اپنے اپنے ہیں اوقات

جاؤ نہ تم اِن خشک آنکھوں پر ہم راتوں کو رو لیں ہیں

فِطرت میری عشق و محبت قِسمت میری تنہائی

کہنے کی نوبت ہی نہ آئی ہم بھی کسو کے ہو لیں ہیں

خُنک سیہ مہکے ہوئے سائے پھیل جائیں ہیں جل تھل پر

کن جتنوں سے میری غزلیں رات کا جُوڑا کھولیں ہیں

باغ میں وہ خواب آور عالم موجِ صبا کے اشاروں پر

ڈالی ڈالی نورس پتّے سہج سہج جب ڈولیں ہیں

اُف وہ لبوں پر موجِ تبسم جیسے کروٹیں لیں کوندے

ہائے وہ عالمِ جنبش مژگاں جب فتنے پر تولیں ہیں

نقش و نگارِ غزل میں جو تم یہ شادابی پاؤ ہو

ہم اشکوں میں کائنات کے نوکِ قلم کو ڈبو لیں ہیں

ان راتوں کو حریمِ ناز کا اک عالم ہوئے ہے ندیم

خلوت میں وہ نرم انگلیاں بندِ قبا جب کھولیں ہیں

غم کا فسانہ سننے والو آخرِ شب آرام کرو

کل یہ کہانی پھر چھیڑیں گے ہم بھی ذرا اب سو لیں ہیں

ہم لوگ اب تو اجنبی سے ہیں کچھ تو بتاؤ حالِ فراقؔ

اب تو تمہیں کو پیار کریں ہیں اب تو تمہیں سے بولیں ہیں

बोलें हैं – रघुपति सहाए फ़िराक़ गोरखपूरी

अब अक्सर चुप चुप से रहें हैं यूँही कभू लब खोलें हैं

पहले फ़िराक़ को देखा होता अब तो बहुत कम बोलें हैं

दिन में हम को देखने वालो अपने अपने हैं औक़ात

जाओ न तुम इन ख़ुश्क आँखों पर हम रातों को रो लें हैं

फ़ित्रत मेरी इश्क़-ओ-मोहब्बत क़िस्मत मेरी तन्हाई

कहने की नौबत ही न आई हम भी किसू के हो लें हैं

ख़ुनुक सियह महके हुए साए फैल जाएँ हैं जल-थल पर

किन जतनों से मेरी ग़ज़लें रात का जूड़ा खोलें हैं

बाग़ में वो ख़्वाब-आवर आलम मौज-ए-सबा के इशारों पर

डाली डाली नौरस पत्ते सहज सहज जब डोलें हैं

उफ़ वो लबों पर मौज-ए-तबस्सुम जैसे करवटें लें कौंदे

हाए वो आलम-ए-जुम्बिश-ए-मिज़्श्गां जब फ़ित्ने पर तौलें हैं

नक़्श-ओ-निगार-ए-ग़ज़ल में जो तुम ये शादाबी पाओ हो

हम अश्कों में काएनात के नोक-ए-क़लम को डुबो लें हैं

इन रातों को हरीम-ए-नाज़ का एक आलम हुए है नदीम

ख़ल्वत में वो नर्म उँगलियाँ बंद-ए-क़बा जब खोलें हैं

ग़म का फ़साना सुनने वालो आख़ेर-ए-शब आराम करो

कल ये कहानी फिर छेड़ेंगे हम भी ज़रा अब सो लें हैं

This is a Ghazal, at times playful, at other times so thoughtful and self-reflective loaded with pathos. This is one of several Ghazal that firaq wrote in the style of mir taqi mir.

pahle firaq ko dekha hota ab to bahut kam boleN haiN

Now he is often very quiet and rarely opens his mouth. You should have seen firaq earlier, now he does not talk much. The poet leaves you to guess what changed … did he fall in love/fail in love?

jaao na tum in Khushk2 aNkhoN par ham raatoN ko ro leN haiN

You who see me during the day, realize that everyone has their particular time during which they deal with their sentiments/emotions. Do not go by my dry eyes, I cry at night i.e. you do not know my pain. I hide it in company except at night, when I am alone.

I have a loving, romantic nature but loneliness is my fate. I never got a chance to say (express my love), otherwise I would have ‘belonged to someone’.

kin jatanoN5 se meri GhazleN raat ka juuRa kholeN haiN

When the night lets its hair down (relaxes, becomes intimate), soft, dark shadows spread all around. It is as a result of the effort of my Ghazal that the night lets her hair down or it is with my Ghazal that I untie the knots (reveal the secrets) of creation.

Such a dream-like atmosphere in the garden, every supple branch with fresh leaves, sways softly at the command of breeze.

On those nights, in the chamber of the beloved, the atmosphere is something else, my friend, when in intimacy, her soft fingers untie the knots of the robe.

The poet is addressing his audience and claiming that he and firaq are now like strangers. He does not know firaq (himself) anymore. You tell me the condition of firaq. Now-a-days he does not talk to me, he only loves you and talks to you.
