ہونا وِصال یار کا امرِ محال ہے

بن ٹھن کے آ رہے ہیں وہ عاشق کے قتل کو
شمشیر ہاتھ میں ہے پسِ پُشت ڈھال ہے

غیروں کو آج دیکھ کے انجان ہو گئے
کل مجکو کیا کہا تھا تمہیں کچھ خیال ہے

ہوگا وصال آج ہی کل میں تیرا دِلیر
یہ قولِ ہر مُنَجّمِ فرخُندہ فال ہے

shamshir1 haath meN hai pas2-e pusht3 Dhaal4 hai 1.sword 2.behind 3.back 4.shield
She is all adorned and coming to slay the lover. She has her sword in hand and is holding a shield behind her back. I don’t understand the significance of holding a shield behind the back. Is she being attacked from behind? I don’t think so. It seems to be merely a filler because it rhymes and goes with the sword.

GhairauN1 ko aaj dekh ke anjaan2 ho gaye
kal mujh ko kya kaha tha tumheN kuchh Khyaal3 hai 1.other, rival 2.neglectful 3.memory
Now that you have seen the rival, you are feigning as if you don’t even see me. Do you not remember what you told me yesterday.
