چند  روز  اور   – فیض  احمد   فیض

 

چند  روز اور  مری  جان!  فقط چند  ہی  روز

ظلم کی چھاوٗں میں دم لینے پہ مجبور ہیں ہم

اور کچھ دیر ستم سہہ لیں، تڑپ لیں، رو لیں

اپنے اجداد کی میراث ہے معذور ہیں ہم

جسم پر قید ہے، جذبات پہ زنجیریں ہیں

فکر محبوس ہے، گفتار پہ تعزیریں ہیں

 

اپنی ہمت ہے کہ  ہم پھر بھی جیئے جاتے ہیں

زندگی کیا کسی مفلس کی قبا ہے جس میں

ہر گھڑی درد کے پیوند لگے جاتے ہیں

لیکن اب ظلم کی معیاد کے دِن تھوڑے ہیں

اِک ذرا صبر کہ  فریاد کے دِن تھوڑے ہیں

عرصہٰ دہر کی جھلسی ہوئی ویرانی میں

ہم کو رہنا ہے  پہ یوں ہی تو نہیں رہنا ہے

 

اجنبی ہاتھوں کا بے نام گراں بار ستم

آج سہنا ہے، ہمیشہ تو نہیں سہنا ہے

یہ تیرے حسن سے لپٹی ہوئی آلام کی گرد

اپنی دو روزہ جوانی کی شکستوں کا شمار

چاندنی راتوں کا بیکار دہکتا ہوا درد

دِل کی بے سود تڑپ، جسم کی مایوس پکار

چند روز اور مری جان فقط چند ہی روز

चन्द रोज़ और मेरी जान! फ़क़त चन्द ही रोज़

ज़ुल्म कि छाओं दम में लेने पे मजबूर हैं हम

और कुछ देर सितम सह लें, तड़प लें, रो लें

अपने अज्दाद कि मीरास है मा’ज़ूर हैं हम

जिस्म पर क़ैद है, जज़बात पे ज़ंजीरें हैं

फ़िक्र महबूस है, गुफ़तार पे ता’ज़ीरें हैं

 

अपनी हिम्मत है के हम फिर भी जिए जाते हैं

ज़िन्दगी क्या किसी मुफ़लिस कि क़बा है जिस में

हर घड़ी दर्द के पैवंद लगे जाते हैं

लैकिन अब ज़ुल्म कि मे’याद के दिन थोड़े हैं

एक ज़रा सब्र के, फ़र्याद के दिन थोड़े हैं

अर्सा ए दहर कि झुलसी हुई वीरानी में

हम को रहना है पे यूँ ही तो नहीं रहना है

 

अजनबी हाथों के बेनाम गिराँबार सितम

आज सहना है हमेशा तो नहीं सहना है

ये तेरे हुस्न से लपटी हुई आलाम कि गर्द

अपनी दो रोज़ा जवानी कि शिकस्तों का शुमार

चांदनी रातों का बेकार दहकता हुआ दर्द

दिल कि बे सूद तड़प, जिस्म कि मायूस पुकार

Just a few more days, my darling, we are forced to endure this oppression for a just a few more days. A little longer to endure cruelty, to bear, to weep. This is our inheritance, we are helpless. The body captive, the spirit in chains, thought prescribed and speech circumscribed.

hum ko rahna hai pe yuN hi to nahiN rahna hai

It is our gumption alone that we keeps us alive. Is our life to just be that pauper’s robe with its tears patched up with vain hopes and false promises. But the time of tyranny is now at an end, a little patience now, our days of pleading are numbered. In the scorched wilderness of our times, we have to live, but not for always like this.
