مگر  اِس  طرح  سرِ  رہگزر  مجھے  ہر  قدم  پہ  صدا  نہ  دے

مرا  غم  نہ  کر  مرے  چارہ  گر،  تری  چارہ  جُوئی  بجا  مگر

مرا  درد  ہے  مری  زندگی،  مجھے  دردِ  دل  کی  دوا  نہ  دے

ترے  پائے  ناز  پہ  سر  مرا،  مرے  سر  پہ  بارِ  گناہ  ہے

جو  ترے  مزاج  میں  آئے  کر،  یہ  نہ  کر  کہ  مجھ  کو  سزا  نہ  دے

میں  وہاں  ہوں  اب  مرے  ناصحا،  کہ  جہاں  خوشی  کا  گزر  نہیں

مرا  غم  حدوں  سے  گزر  گیا،  مجھے  اب  خوشی  کی  دعا  نہ  دے

وہ  گرائیں  شوق  سے  بجلیاں،  یہ  ستم  کرم  ہے  ستم  نہیں

کہ  وہ  طرزؔ  برقِ  جفا  نہیں،  جو  چمک  کے  نورِ  وفا  نہ  دے

दर्द-ए दिल कि दवा न दे – गनेश बिहारी तर्ज़

मुझे दे के मय मेरे साक़िया, मेरी तिश्नगी को हवा न दे

मेरी प्यास पर भि तु कर नज़र, मुझे मय-कशी कि सज़ा न दे

मेरा साथ अए मेरे हमसफ़र, नहीं चाहता है तो जा न दे

मगर इस तरह सर-ए रहगुज़र, मुझे हर क़दम पे सदा न दे

मेरा ग़म न कर मेरे चारागर, तेरी चारा-जूई बजा मगर

मेरा दर्द है मेरी ज़िन्दगी, मुझे दर्द-ए दिल कि दवा न दे

तेरे पा-ए नाज़ पे सर मेरा, मेरे सर पे बार-ए गुनाह है

जो तेरे मिज़ाज में आए कर, ये न कर के मुझ को सज़ा न दे

मैं वहां हुं अब मेरे नासेहा, के जहां ख़ुशी का गुज़र नहीं

मेरा ग़म हदौं से गुज़र गया, मुझे अब ख़ुशी की दुआ न दे

वो गिराएं शौक़ से बिज्लियां, ये सितम करम है सितम नहीं

के वो तर्ज़ बर्क़-ए जफ़ा नहीं, जो चमक के नूर-ए वफ़ा न दे

There are conflicting records about the date of birth, but 1928 appears more credible. BA LLB from lucknow. He worked in various legal and administrative positions. Started composing around 1949. Brother of kishan bihari noor. Lived in mumbaii and composed lyrics for the film industry. This is in the same zamin as shakeel badayuni’s famous Ghazal ‘mujhe dost ban ke daGha na de’. Normally poet/lovers/wine-lovers keep asking for more and more wine. ‘pyaas pe nazar karna’, can mean – look carefully at my thirst, consider its nature, the implication being it is not asking for more wine, but more of your gaze. Thus, O saaqia, do not give me any more wine and fan the flames of my addiction. Don’t punish me with drunken-ness but consider the nature of my thirst. I am thirsty for your gaze.

The poet/lover values his pain/afflication of love. Thus, O healer, don’t feel sorry for me. Your search for a cure for me is justified but this afflication is the purpose of my life. Do not give me any cures for it.

The poet/lover/devotee craves attention from the the beloved in whatever form – favour or punishment. This seems to be addressed to the divine beloved in the spirit of sufism. My head is bowed at your feet, the altar of my worship. It is burdened with sin. Judge me in whatever way you wish, but do not ignore me.
