جس سے وابستہ ہوئی ہر انجمن کی روشنی
مُختلف تھا دوسروں سے جِس کا اُسلوبِ بیاں
دھُل گئی تھی کوثر و تسنیم سے جس کی زباں

جس کی فکرِ نکتہ رس جس کی نوائے شاعری
منزلِ ہستی میں ہے مِثلِ چراغِ رہبری
جس نے اہلِ دل کو پیغامِ فلک گیری دیا
پستیوں کو رفعتوں سے آشنا جس نے کیا

شعر میں جس نے سمویا درد کی آواز کو
ہمنوائے دل کیا نغماتِ سوز و ساز کو
زندگی رکھا تھا جس نے ہنس کے مر جانے کا نام
عاشقی میں جان سے جی کے گذر جانے کا نام

فرض تھا جس کے لئے پابندیِ تکمیلِ عشق
پارسائی کو بھی جس کی کافری پر ناز تھا
جس کی رِندی میں بھی اک ایمان کا انداز تھا

طبع حق آگاہ جس کی وقفِ سوز و ساز تھی
لامکاں تک جس کے ذہن و فکر کی پرواز تھی
جس کا عالم سر بہ سر تھا عالمِ سرشارِ عشق
وادیِ اُلفت میں تھا جو کارواں سالارِ عشق

جس نے محسوسات کو بخشا مذاقِ شاعری
شاعری کو جس کی جدّت نے عطا کی ساحری
پاسِ ایمانِ محبّت جس کا نصب العین تھا
اک زمانے کی تڑپ سے جس کا دل بیچین تھا

جس کے فن کی ہند کیا ایران تک توقیر تھی
جس کا دل اک ساز تھا غم کے ترانوں کے لئے
حق نوا جس کی زباں تھی نکتہ دانوں کے لئے

سب پہ تھا سب پر رہیگا، سب پہ ہے چھایا ہوا
شاہِ دِلّی کو بھی تھا جس کی شاگردی پہ ناز
