ہر اک کلی پھول بن رہی ہے، ہر ایک خوشہ جھلک رہا ہے
مچل رہی ہے نسیمِ بستاں، تمام صحرا مہک رہا ہے

کلاہِ نو کج کیے ہوے ہے، ہلال تاروں کی انجمن میں
کھلا ہوا ہے فلک کا سینہ زمیں کا غنچہ چٹک رہا ہے

ٹپک رہی ہے گلوں سے شبنم لچک رہیں ہیں ادا سے شاخیں
ہر اک کلی تال دے رہی ہے، ہر ایک طایر چہک رہا ہے

لپیٹے منھ سو رہیں تھیں کلیاں، صبا نے آ کر جو گدگدایا
سرک گئے ہیں سروں سے آنچل تمام گلشن مہک رہا ہے

हर एक कलि फूल बन रही है, हर एक ख़ोशा झलक रहा है
मचल रही है नसीम-ए बुस्तां, तमाम सहरा महक रहा है

कुलाह-ए नौ कज किये हुए है हिलाल तारों की अंजुमन में
खुला हुआ है फ़लक का सीना ज़मीं का ग़ुंचा चिटक रहा है

टपक रही है गुलों से शब्नम, लचक रहीं हैं अदा से शाख़ें
हर एक कलि ताल दे रही है, हर एक ताएर चहक रहा है

लपेटे मुंह सो रहीं थीं कलियाँ, सबा ने आकर जो गुदगुदाया
सरक गए हैं सरों से आँचल, तमाम गुलशन महक रहा है

His nazm are fiery, passionate, and full of energy. His Ghazal and rubaaii are equally good. He was a secular humanist writing sharply and irreverently against colonialism, abuse of power, injustice and orthodoxy. josh was known to take long early morning walks and has written extensively and passionately about the beauty of dawn. Every bud is beginning to bloom, every bough shines and waves supple. The breeze is restless, blowing hither and thither, making the whole garden redolent.

khula hua hai falak11 ka seena, zamiN ka Ghuncha12 chiTak13 raha hai 7.new cap 8.wear the cap crooked 9.moon 10.assembly 11.skies 12.earth like a budding flower 13.blooming
The shape of the new moon is depicted as a slanted cap. Conventionally wearing a cap slanted at a jaunty angle is considered an act of defiance or of playful youthfulness. It is dawn and the world is waking up. It is like a flower about to bloom. Thus, the new moon is playful in the assembly of stars, the sky clear and the earth blossoming in the dawn.

Traditionally, buds blossom with dawn and this is depicted as the morning breeze blowing to wake them up. Thus, buds were asleep, heads covered and as the breeze blew in to tickle them, their veils slipped off their heads (they bloomed into flowers) making the whole garden redolent.
