مسیحائے زماں ۔ شِو دیال سحاب

دوائے زہرِ غم ہے تیرا ہر پیغامِ رُوحانی

کہاں ہے اے مسیحائے زماں نانک تیرا ثانی

کلامِ عِشقِ رُوحانی، نوائے رازِ عرفانی

ہوئی بیدار دنیا سُن کے تیری دِل نشیں بانی

مُیسّر روح کو ہوتی تھی راحت تیرے لفظوں سے

عقیدت آفریں تھا تیرا اندازِ خوش الحانی

بیاں ایسی وضاحت سے ہوئے سب تیرے شبدوں میں

زمانے کی سمجھ میں آ گئے احکامِ ربّانی

تیری بانی نے کھولا رازِ ہستی اہلِ دنیا پر

اِسی سے اہلِ دنیا نے حقیقت اپنی پہچانی

بجا ہے تیرا کہنا کہ اپنے دل کے حاکم کو

لباسِ فقر میں بھی ہے مُیسّر شانِ سلطانی

مگر محکوم ہے جو دِل کا یا قیدی تمنّا کا

حماقت ہے عیاں اُس کی، مسلّم اُس کی نادانی

شرابِ ناب کی مستی ہے مستی چند لمحوں کی

مئے وحدت کی مستی ہے دوامی اور لا فانی

خدا معبود ہے سب کا، خدا موجود ہے سب میں

وہ ہے اِنسان کا خالق، دو عالم کا ہے وہ بانی

وہ دن پھر آنے والا ہے، بہت جلد آنے والا ہے

کہ اپنائیں گے ظالم اور جاہل بھی تری بانی

یہ بانی پھر کرے گی دور تاریکی جہالت کی

اِسی بانی سے ہو گی معرفت کی نور ارزانی

दवा-ए ज़हर-ए ग़म है तेरा हर पैग़ाम-ए रूहानी

कहां है अए मसीहा-ए ज़मां नानक तेरा सानी

कलाम-ए इश्क़-ए रूहानी, नवा-ए राज़-ए इर्फ़ानी

हुई बेदार दुनिया सुन के तेरी दिल नशीं बानी

मयस्सर रूह को होती थी राहत तेरे लफ़ज़ौं से

अक़ीदत आफ़्रीं था तेरा अंदाज़-ए ख़ुश अलहानी

बयां ऐसी वज़ाहत से हुए सब तेरे शब्दौं में

ज़माने की समझ में आ गए अहकाम-ए रब्बानी

तेरी बानी ने खोला राज़-ए हस्ती अहल-ए दुनिया पर

इसी से अहल-ए दुनिया ने हक़ीक़त अपनी पहचानी

बजा है तेरा कहना के अपने दिल के हाकेम को

लिबास-ए फ़क़्र में भी है मयस्सर शान-ए सुल्तानी

मगर महकूम है जो दिल का या क़ैदी तमन्ना का

हिमाक़त है अयां उस की, मुसल्लम उस की नादानी

शराब-ए नाब की मस्ती है मस्ती चँद लम्होँ की

मै-ए वहदत की मस्ती है दावामी और ला फ़ानी

ख़ुदा माबूद है सब का, ख़ुदा मौजूद है सब में

वो है इंसान का ख़ालेक़, दो आलम का है वो बानी

वो दिन फिर आने वाला है, बहुत जल्द आने वाला है

के अपनाएं गे ज़ालिम और जाहिल भी तेरी बानी

ये बानी फिर करे गी दूर तअरीकी जहालत की

इसी बानी से हो गी मारफ़त की नूर-अर्ज़ानी

He was a shaagird of panDit mela ram vafa (1895-1980). Introductions/testimonials written in this book recall sahaab’s 25 years of service to urdu, which places him as a young poet in the mid 1940s. He was editor of ‘milaap’ in chandigaRh. As his own introduction, he writes that he did not receive ‘shaa’eri’ as his ‘viraasat’ but was happy that it became a ‘viraasat’ that he is leaving for his progeny. His son, ashok narula, published his divan even before his father. Here he pays tribute to nanak for the universality of his “baani” message. One remarkable feature of this post is that it is a hindu poet writing an ode to nanak in urdu.
