مری  شام  کے  یہ  نقوش  بھی،  ترے  جیسے  لگتے  ہیں  ہُو  بہ  ہُو

کبھی  اشک  سے  مری  آنکھ  نم،  کبھی  خوں  سے  جسم  یہ  تر  بہ  تر

جسے  کہہ  رہے  ہو  غزل  مری،  مرے  یار  کی  ہے  وہ  گفتگو

है नफ़स नफ़स तेरी आरज़ू, है क़दम क़दम तेरी जुस्तुजू

मैं जहाँ रहूँ मैं कहीं चलूँ, तेरी याद मिलती है कू-ब-कू

है हवा में जैसे महक तेरी, किसी अब्र में है झलक तेरी

मेरी शाम के ये नुक़ूश भी, तेरे जैसे लगते हैं हू-ब-हू

कभी अश्क से मेरी आँख नम, कभी ख़ूँ से जिस्म ये तर-ब-तर

तेरे इश्क़ की ये नमाज़ भी, पढ़ूँ कैसे दोस्त मैं बे-वुज़ू

है बदन में तेरी ही आहटें, तेरे नाम की हैं ये धढकनें

मेरा दिल भी कैसे ये मान ले, के चला गया कहीं दूर तू

यूँ लबों पे मेरे हँसी भी है, वहीं आँख में ये नमी भी है

मैं इमाम कोई हूँ दर्द का, मैं हूँ फ़ितरतन ही उदास-ख़ू

मेरे लब पे उस का बयान है, मेरे शे’रों की वही जान है

जिसे कह रहे हो ग़ज़ल मेरी, मेरे यार की है वो गुफ़्तुगू

With every breath, at every moment of my life, I long for you. Every step that I take is in search of you. Wherever I may be, wherever I may go, your memories linger in every street.

hai hava meN jaise mahak1 teri, kisi abr2 meN hai jhalak3 teri
meri shaam ke ye nuqoosh4 bhi, teray jaise lagte haiN hu-ba-hu5

It is as if the air carries your fragrance. I see a glimpse of you in the clouds. Every image that forms as sundown, appears exactly like you.

teray ishq ki ye namaaz bhi, paRhuN kaise dost5 maiN be-vuzu6

Sometimes my eyes are moist with tears. Sometimes my body drips in blood. My prayer of love for you, how can I perform, my beloved, without ritual cleansing.

mera dil bhi kaise ye maan3 le, keh chala gaya kahiN duur tu

In every sound of my body, I hear your footsteps. My heart throbs sounding like your name. How can I agree, that you have gone far away.

yuN laboN1 pe meray haNsi bhi hai, vahiN aaNkh meN ye nami2 bhi hai
maiN imaam3 koi huN dard ka, maiN huN fitratan4 hi udaas-Khu5

While my lips may smile, but there are tears in my eyes. I am a leader among those feeling pain (of love). I have become naturally sorrowful.
