پہلا جشن آزادی  – اسرار الحق  مجاز

 

بصد غرو ر و بصد فخر و نازِ آزادی

مچل کے کھل گئی زلفِ درازِ آزادی

مہ و نجوم ہیں نغمہ طرازِ آزادی

وطن نے چھیڑ ا ہے اِس طر ح سازِ آزادی

زمانہ رقص میں ہے زندگی غزل خواں ہے

 

ہر اک جبیں پہ ہے اک موجِ نورِ آزادی

ہر ایک آنکھ میں کیف و سرورِ آزادی

غلامی خاک بسر ہے حضورِ  آزادی

ہر ایک قصر ہے اک بامِ طورِ آ زادی

ہر ایک بام پہ اک پرچم زر افشاں ہے

 

ہر ایک سمت نگارانِ یاسمیں پیکر

نکل پڑے ہیں در و بام سے مہ و اختر

وہ سیلِ نور ہے خیرہ ہے آ دمی کی نظر

بصد غرور و ادا خندہ زن ہے گردوں پر

زمینِ ہند کہ جولاں گہ غزالاں ہے

 

صدا دو انجم و افلاک رقص فرمائیں

بتانِ کافر و سفاک رقص فرمائیں

شریکِ حلقۂ اِدراک رقص فرمائیں

طرب کا وقت ہے بیباک رقص فرمائیں

کہ یہ بہارِ  پیامیِ صد بہاراں ہے

 

یہ اِنقلاب کا مژُ دہ ہے اِنقلاب نہیں

یہ آفتاب کا پرتو ہے آفتاب نہیں

وہ جس کی تاب و توانائی کا جواب نہیں

ابھی وہ سعیِ جنوں خیز کامیاب نہیں

یہ اِنتہا نہیں آغازِ  کارِ مرداں ہے

बसद ग़ुरूर ओ बसद फ़ख़र ओ नाज़ ए आज़ादी
मचल के खुल गई ज़ुल्फ़ ए दराज़ ए आज़ादी
मह ओ नुजूम हैं नग़मा तराज़ ए आज़ादी
वतन ने छेड़ा है इस तरह साज़ ए आज़ादी

ज़माना रक़्स में है ज़िन्दगी ग़ज़ल ख़्वां है

 

हर एक जबीं पे है एक मौज ए नूर ए आज़ादी
हर एक आँख में कैफ़ ओ सुरूर ए आज़ादी
ग़ुलामी ख़ाक बसर है हुज़ूर ए आज़ादी
हर एक क़सर है एक बाम ए तूर ए आज़ादी

हर एक बाम पे एक परचम ज़र अफ़्शाँ है

 

हर एक सिम्त निगरान ए यास्मीं पैकर
निकल पड़े हैं दर ओ बाम से माह ओ अख़्तर
वो सैल ए नूर है ख़ीरा है आदमी की नज़र
बसद ग़ुरूर ओ अदा ख़न्दा ज़न है गर्दूं पर

ज़मीन ए हिंद के जौलाँ गह-ए-ग़ज़ालां है

 

सदा दो अंजुम ओ अफ़्लाक रक़्स फ़रमाएं
बुतान ए काफ़िर ओ सफ़्फ़ाक रक़्स फ़रमाएं
शरीक ए हल्क़ा ए इदराक रक़्स फ़रमाएं
तरब का वक़्त है बेबाक रक़्स फ़रमाएं

के ये बहार ए पयामी ए सद बहारां है

 

ये इनक़ेलाब का मुज़्शदा है इनक़ेलाब नहीं
ये आफ़ताब का परतौ है आफ़ताब नहीं
वो जिस की ताब ओ तवानाई का जवाब नहीं
अभी वो सअई ए जुनूं ख़ेज़ काम्याब नहीं

ये इन्तेहा नहीं आग़ाज़-ए-कार-ए-मरदां है

He received his BA from aligaRh after interruptions in earlier schooling. He developed close relationships with progressives and was a major force in the Progressive Writers’ Association. He lived in aligaRh, dehli and lucknow working for radio stations, editing magazines on and off but with no steady income. He met with a rather tragic end at the young age of 44. majaz opens with very joyful and celebratory and stanzas which are very musical but do not give any indication of the climax which is very much in keeping with progressive thought of the time.

With much pride and in fine style, independence that has long been restless, has now unfurled her tresses. The moon and stars sing songs of freedom. The whole country sings songs of liberation. The world is dancing, Life sings Ghazals of joy.

har ek aaNkh meN kaif o suroor3 e aazadi
Ghulami4 Khaak basar5 hai huzoor6-e aazadi
har ek qasr7 hai ek baam e toor8-e aazadi
har ek baam9 pe ek parcham10 zarafshaN11 hai

Send out a call that the stars should dance in celebration. The beloved, mischievous and cruel, dance in joy. The circle of the wise too, join in dance. It is a time of celebration, the young and feerless, join. That this is spring of the message of a hundred springs to come.

This is just a message of change, not the new order. This is reflection of the sun, not the sun. That which does not have equal in strength and power, that work of mad passion is not yet done. This is not the end, this is the beginning of the work of the brave.
